Brendan James Fraser was born on December 3, 1968, to Canadian parents Peter Fraser and Carol Mary in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the United States. He is the youngest of four children and has three brothers named Kevin, Regan, and Sean. His ancestors are from Germany, the Czech Republic, France, Canada, Ireland, and Scotland. Despite being born in the US, he spent his formative years living abroad in places like the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada.

He attended the exclusive boarding school Upper Canada College in Toronto and spent a year in London on vacation. While there, he attended a West End play, which sparked his interest in acting. He matriculated and then enrolled in Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts, where he graduated with a bachelor’s in arts. He intended to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Acting at Southern Methodist University, but instead he decided to try his luck in Hollywood and pursue an acting career.

He made his acting debut in the 1991 television film “Child of Darkness, Child of Light,” followed by a few small roles in movies like “Dogfight” and “Guilty Until Proven Innocent” in the same year, before landing his first significant role as Link, the frozen prehistoric caveman who lives in the present, in the comedy “Encino Man” in 1992. He invested the 1990s in developing his resume, appearing in movies like “Airheads” (1994), “Glory Daze,” and “George of the Jungle” (1997) before landing the part of Rick O’Connell in the well-known “The Mummy” trilogy in 1999.

In the sequels “The Mummy Returns” (2001) and “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” he played the same part again (2008).

Brendan appeared in a number of notable roles in-between these obligations, such as Elliot in the movie “Bedazzled” (2000), Stu Miley in the movie “Monkeybone” (2001), and Alden Pyle in the romantic thriller drama movie “The Quiet American” (2002), among others.
