Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, a fan favourite from the Derry Girls, will flex her presenting skills on a special documentary about her hometown.
Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, known for portraying the fiery Michelle Mallon in the classic sitcom on Channel 4 that ended last month, is now working with the same outlet on a factual programme titled The Real Derry: Jamie-Lee O’Donnell (via Irish Independent).
The actress will be discussing her Catholic upbringing and how things have changed since the 1990s for viewers who tune in.
Jamie-high Lee’s school students will also discuss Derry’s redevelopment and why so many young people still feel compelled to leave the city in order to acquire new knowledge and experiences.
The Real Derry: Jamie-Lee O’Donnell also looks into what Derry’s future might hold, particularly for the younger gener ations still feeling the effects of the Troubles.
Daniel Fromm, the commissioning editor for popular factual programming at Channel 4, said in a statement: “Working on Tyrone Productions’ first commission for Channel 4 and with Jamie-Lee in a brand-new role for her makes me incredibly happy.
“Derry Girls has elevated the city to a position of national significance; this movie lends a voice to a new generation of its youth so they may describe what it’s like to grow up there in 2022.”
