Jeff Goldblum Jurassic Park Bare-Chested Pose & Why He Apologised For It

Jeff Goldblum always has some sharp banter ready, as he recently laughed at himself and his bare-chested scene from Jurassic Park. Following his frustratingly brief cameo appearance in the previous film, Goldblum returns to the dinosaur franchise in Jurassic World: Dominion as Ian Malcolm. This time, he is accompanied by fellow returnees Sam Neill and Laura Dern in a significantly larger part.

Goldblum is currently on the promotional circuit for Jurassic World: Dominion, which will finally hit theatres this June after a protracted Covid delay. This gives the eccentric actor plenty of opportunities to use his trademark catchphrases, or “Goldblum-isms,” which he has used in interviews and performances for the past forty years. Ian Malcolm’s iconic sequence in Jurassic Park, where he poses with his shirt open after narrowly escaping a T-Rex attack, was discussed by actor Jeff Goldblum in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. Goldblum chuckled as he said:

“I don’t recall how it happened. I am clueless. It simply happened in some way. For better or worse, I apologise. I apologise a lot. Or, thanks for asking.

Ian Malcolm’s bare-chested pose while leaning on one elbow has been the inspiration for t-shirts, internet memes, and in 2018, a massive 25-foot statue honouring Jurassic Park’s 25th anniversary. Additionally, Goldblum recre ated the scene in 2020 and shared the outcome on his Instagram page. Goldblum has been as amazed as anyone over the years at how the scene wound up on mugs and other items for a moment that occurs in the middle of so much dinosaur devastation.

Jurassic World: Dominion Merges The Past and Present In More Ways Than One

The only character with a connection to Jurassic Park in the new films, aside from Jeff Goldblum’s brief cameo in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, is B. D. Wong’s Henry Wu, the scientist who assisted John Hammond in creating his original dinosaurs and who, by the end of the last film, had turned out to be the main antagonist. In a film that promises to wrap out the series with a massive Jurassic crossover, the franchise this time around welcomes back its original stars as well as dinosaurs like the Dilophosaurus, which hasn’t been seen since it killed Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park. at least right now.

While it is obvious that this will wrap up the Jurassic World trilogy, there is no way of knowing if this will be the last time we see the dinosaur series on the big screen or where the Jurassic Park story will head next. It’s probable that the next instalment of the dinosaur franchise will be a live-action TV series given Universal’s foray into television and the success of the animated series Camp Cretaceous on Netflix.

On June 10, Jurassic World: Dominion will have its theatrical debut, and we can presumably anticipate the release of the film’s final trailer some time in July.
