The 2023 Cannes Film Festival kicks off with Johnny Depp’s new movie ‘Jeanne du Barry’
Johnny Depp and Cannes were two subjects that were trending on Twitter on Tuesday. Depp walked the red carpet this year in front of the Palais des Festivals in support of his movie Jeanne Du Barry.
For those of you who are unaware, let us inform you that the titular parts in the historical drama are played by French actress Mawenn and Hollywood actor and director Johnny Depp.
Pierre Richard, Benjamin Lavernhe, Noémie Lvovsky, Pascal Greggory, Melvil Poupaud, and India Hair are also featured in the film. In the film, Johnny plays the part of Louis XV, a monarch from the 18th century, while Mawenn plays the part of his favourite mistress.
Depp wore a black suit to the event. His hair was tied back into a neat ponytail. He added a few rings and some sunglasses to finish off his ensemble. At the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, he sat down to sign a few autographs and pose for photos with admirers.

Michael Douglas receives Honorary Palme d’Or at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival
The iconic actor and producer Michael Douglas received an honorary Palme d’Or at the conclusion of Tuesday’s opening ceremony in recognition of his significant contributions to films and the film industry. At Cannes, Uma Thurman paid tribute to Douglas. He has acted in films like Basic Instinct, Falling Down, The China Syndrome, and Behind the Candelabra.
The Oscar winner made light of his age during his remarks, joking that at 78, he is two years older than the film festival. “76 years old?,” he remarked. The festival is older than I am.
Douglas was joined at the well-known film festival by his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and daughter Carys Zeta. The group made a point to be present at both the opening ceremony red carpet and the Jeanne du Barry screening.
The Basic Instinct actor looked dapper for the 76th Annual Cannes Film Festival in a black suit and matching bow tie. For her part, Catherine chose a low-cut crimson dress. Carys, the couple’s daughter, wore a semi-transparent white gown.
