Following his debut on the now-famous TLC programme “19 Kids and Counting,” Joshua James Duggar, best known by his stage name Josh Duggar, rose to fame in the reality television industry. Even though Josh became well-known through his work in the public eye, his involvement in a few unethical and downright illegal activities over the course of his life has shocked fans all over the world. He has since been prosecuted for his actions, as shown in “Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets” on Prime Video and “The Ashley Madison Affair” on Hulu. So now, if you’re wondering about his current whereabouts, don’t worry because we’re here with the information!
What Did Josh Duggar Do?
Josh is the oldest of the 19 siblings who appeared on the reality series “19 Kids and Counting.” Josh was born to Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar. While the show followed the Duggar family’s daily lives, Josh’s appearance on it catapulted him into the public eye and opened the door to a very lucrative reality television career. Additionally, he played a significant role in a number of spin-off films and documentaries, such as “Duggars Make a Movie,” “GrandDuggar First Birthday,” “Duggars’ Big Family Album,” “On the Road with 16 Children,” and “Raising 16 Children.” He was also a key contributor to other well-known productions like “The Comfort Zone.” Josh even made an appearance in two unique television documentaries, “14 Children and Pregnant Again!” and “16 Children and Moving In,” as if that weren’t enough.
Josh, however, attracted a lot of public attention in 2015 after a number of women, including two of his own sisters, Jill and Jessa, claimed he had inappropriately touched them in 2006. Clearly, these allegations caused a great deal of controversy, but he chose to accept responsibility for his errors and even publicly apologise to his victims. Josh resigned as soon as the news surfaced since at the time he was in fact the Executive Director of FRC Action, a political lobbying group supported by the fundamentalist Family Research Council (FRC).
Despite Josh’s claims that he was sorry for his actions, it was discovered in August 2015 that he had not one, but two separate accounts on Ashley Madison, a dating website that allows users to cheat on their partners. Josh later admitted to his infidelity, but it soon became clear that he and his wife, Anna Duggar, would try to work things out. After Josh was detained in April 2021 for possessing and receiving child pornography, things continued to go south. Josh entered a not guilty plea in court, but it was clear that this was a serious matter, and in December 2021, he was found guilty on two counts of obtaining and possessing explicit content from a minor.
Where Is Josh Duggar Now?
Josh was unquestionably found guilty on two counts, but the judge presiding over his case ultimately dismissed one of them without prejudice before handing down a sentence of 151 months (12 years and 7 months) behind bars without the possibility of parole in May 2022. After his release, he was also required to complete 20 years of probation, during which time he would only be permitted to see his minor children with appropriate supervision.
Given that Josh’s mother has insisted on her son’s innocence, it is understandable that some Duggar family members did not agree with the decision. Though she thought her husband had a good heart underneath, his wife, Anna Duggar, also sent a letter to the judge pleading for leniency in the sentencing. Additionally, Josh’s legal representative said they were eager to appeal the verdict.
Following his final sentencing, reports suggested that Josh might be housed in one of the Texas prison systems in Seagoville or Texarkana. In consequence, the former reality star is currently serving a 35-year sentence at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution-Seagoville in Dallas County, where he will be freed on October 2, 2032.
