Julie Carol Gryphon Jensen tragically left behind two very young sons in addition to her adoring siblings and extended relatives on December 3, 1998, when she unexpectedly departed away. The father of her children, Mark Jensen, was her husband in reality, but we purposely omitted mentioning him because Mark is the one who murdered Julie, as documented in ABC’s “20/20: Death Foretold” and NBC’s “Dateline: Secrets in Pleasant Prairie.” But for now, we have the information you need if you only want to know more about the incident’s two completely innocent victims, David Mark Jensen and Douglas Jensen.
Who Are Julie and Mark Jensen’s Sons?
In the small Wisconsin town of Oshkosh, in Winnebago County, Julie and Mark first met as local college students, but their relationship quickly developed into much more. By the summer of 1984, the couple had already been married and had made the decision to live there permanently in the lovely Pleasant Prairie neighbourhood of Carol Beach. They eventually started their own happy little family there, with David joining them in 1990 and Douglas following in 1995; the children were only 8 and 3, respectively, when their mother passed away.
Despite how young he was, David still fondly recalls many of the enjoyable times he shared with Julie or the four of them as a family, especially given the number of activities they engaged in. He can talk about anything all day long, whether it be swimming in the backyard pool, going on vacation to places like Lake Tahoe, fishing, or just making fishing gear like the rods. However, one of his most treasured memories is him and his mother playing around on the small plastic table they had in the kitchen since they had designated it as the arts and crafts area.
David also particularly appreciated the bonding time he had with Julie when she frequently volunteered at his primary school, but tragically, everything fell apart in an instant on that dreadful December Day. But it’s important to mention that Kelly LaBonte, whose father made sure changed from his lover to his wife in 1999, was there for him and Douglas as they grew up. But the most important thing is that she kept looking after children even after Mark was detained in 2002 for murder and later condemned to life in prison after his initial trial in early 2008.
Where Are Julie and Mark Jensen’s Sons Today?
David and Douglas filed a letter to the judge in 2008 requesting some compassion in their father’s sentence because they had apparently always thought their father to be innocent. The brothers had said in their joint petition, “He never failed to support us during this struggle. “… If anyone in the world exemplifies loyalty, it’s our dad… We are aware that we can turn to him for anything if we ever need assistance, counsel, or simply someone to talk to.
Although their efforts back then were unsuccessful, David nevertheless testified in Mark’s favour during his 2023 trial, which led to the same outcome. In terms of their current situation, we do know that David is now married and has made Seattle, Washington, his home, while Douglas likes to avoid the spotlight these days. The latter’s occupation is that of a Medical Writer for the innovative, international Ashfield MedComms, an Inizio Company, and he is currently proud to work in the healthcare sector. Before even considering entering the profession full-time, the Bradford High School alumnus sought a Ph.D. in Physiology & Translational Science from the Medical College of Wisconsin and a Bachelor’s in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
