Law & Order Season 22 Update: What’s The Release Window, New Cast, and Other Major Details

After being cancelled in 2010, Law & Order set out on a long path to return to television, which it accomplished on February 24, 2022, with the premiere of its 21st season. And now that the show has here, it has no intention of leaving anytime soon.

Law & Order has been renewed by NBC for a 22nd season, bringing the venerable TV franchise created by Dick Wolf’s flagship series just two seasons short of the run of its own spinoff, Law & Order: SVU (which was renewed for a 24th season).

According to Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Programming, NBCU Entertainment and Streaming, “the legendary Law & Order brand has long been associated with NBC, and we couldn’t be more delighted to bring back all three of these dramas for the 2022–23 season.” The fact that audiences continue to be captivated by these memorable characters week after week, year after year, is a credit to Dick Wolf’s storytelling genius.

Week after week, year after year, audiences have been captivated by these enduring characters, and Law & Order’s triumphant comeback is just the most recent example. It’s no small achievement in a much more crowded TV market that Law & Order season 21 outperformed the final season of the show’s initial run in 2010 in terms of ratings.

Additionally, the extension guarantees that 75-year-old super-producer Dick Wolf will remain one of the busiest men in entertainment. Check out this intriguing Variety article about how Wolf produces roughly 200 hours of television per season across his Law & Order and Chicago franchises in light of the announcement.

What is known about Law & Order season 22 is mentioned below.

Law & Order Season 22 Release Window

The release date of Law & Order season 22 is the only thing we are certain about. According to NBC, the episode will be a part of an all-Law & Order Thursday night programming block in the fall of 2022.

On Thursdays, Law & Order will begin at 8 p.m. ET. Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime will then follow at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively. But when will this Law & Order night debut this fall, on a Thursday? Although it’s not certain, the NBC autumn schedule for 2017 kicked off on Monday, Sept. 20. Watch for Law & Order season 22 on Thursday, September 22, if a similar schedule maintains.

Law & Order Season 22 Cast

There are both fresh and recognisable faces in the Law & Order revival cast. As follows:

Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price Executive Lieutenant Kate Dixon (Camryn Manheim) (Hugh Dancy)

District Attorney Jack McCoy Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun (Odelya Halevi) (Sam Waterson)

Frank Cosgrove, a detective (Jeffrey Donovan)

Kevin Bernard, a detective (Anthony Anderson)

The fact that every episode of the Law & Order franchise has a cast of guest performers that ranges from the obscure to the incredibly well-known is, of course, part of its attraction. Olivia Benson, the star of SVU, even appeared on the Law & Order season 21 finale (Mariska Hargitay).
