Who Plays Layla In All American? Where Have You Seen Her Before?

Both critics and viewers continue to respond well to “All American.” The high school football sensation Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) is offered the chance by Coach Billy Baker (Taye Diggs) to attend a high school in Beverly Hills so he can play with his squad in the series, which according to Insider is Netflix’s most watched show in 2020.

When Spencer accepts the offer, Jordan (Michael Evans Behling), Billy’s son, gets in a bit of a pickle because he doesn’t want to share his father’s attention or the limelight on the football field. Not to add, Spencer develops a fondness for Olivia, Jordan’s sister, played by Samantha Baker, as they relate to one another’s problems. In the fourth season of “All American,” which is currently running, there is conflict between Spencer and Olivia, tension between Billy and Jordan, and a lot of friction between Olivia and Layla Keating, one of Beverly High’s most popular students who Spencer has gotten to know well since Season 1.

Layla frequently treats Spencer rudely, thus their relationship may not start out well. She is interested by Spencer’s capacity to identify particular traits in others, though. We learn that Layla has a difficult and confusing life because her mother has died away and she frequently feels alone and down. Although Season 4 also features a lot of turmoil between her and Coop (Bre-Z), as well as a development in her relationship with her father, Layla and Spencer grow closer as they open up to one another about their personal struggles and feelings throughout the season.

But who plays the interesting Layla in “All American,” and who plays her?

Greta Onieogou plays Layla Keating in the CW series

In “All American” on The CW, actress Greta Onieogou portrays Layla Keating. The 30-year-old actress had a remarkable beginning in the entertainment business because Tammy was her first ever character in the Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore romantic comedy “Fever Pitch.” She then received guest appearances in early 2000s episodes of “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” “Naturally, Sadie,” and “Overruled” as a result. Onieogou, however, probably received her big break in 2007, when she was cast in a supporting part in the well-known Canadian television series “Heartland,” which she continued to star in until 2015.

After “Heartland,” Onieogou played the lead character of Aly in the fictitious sequel miniseries “Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters.” She then started getting additional supporting and guest roles, but this time in well-known American television shows and movies, like “Schitt’s Creek” and “Miss Sloane.” After playing another character in James Caan’s 2017 film “Undercover Grandpa,” the actress was subsequently cast as Layla in “All American.” Onieogou, in an interesting turn of events, said in a recent interview with The Hangout that she didn’t even go in to audition for Layla, preferring the part of Olivia. She approached the role very differently than her co-star Samantha Baker, and the rest, as they say, is history.
