The Daughters of Liberty are a group of female superheroes who battle to defend liberty and peace in the pages of Marvel Comics. A live-action project based on the group is purportedly being developed by Marvel Studios and will be situated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The idea is still in its very early stages, thus it is unknown if it will be a feature film or a television programme. In addition, no announced writers or directors have joined the project. It’s possible that ‘Daughters of Liberty’ entered development just before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which halted progress on the planned production.
The first appearance of The Daughters of Liberty was in Captain America Volume 9, Issue #7, which was published in January 2019. Ta-Nehisi Coates and Adam Kubert founded the group. The Daughters of Light, a group that promoted similar ideas of universal freedom in the 18th century, came before the group in the comics. The Daughters of Liberty have been active since the 19th century, and Peggy Carter/Dryad established the team’s contemporary iteration following Captain America’s detention for the death of General Thaddeus Ross. Sharon Carter, Peggy’s niece, who assists in assembling the team, is also listed on the team roster.
The MCU features both Peggy and Sharon Carter, who are portrayed by Hayley Atwell and Emily VanCamp, respectively. The character of Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn in “WandaVision,” was first introduced. She is a significant Daughter of Liberty member. They also include Toni Ho, Echo (Maya Lopez), Misty Knight, Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew), White Tiger (Ava Ayala), Mockingbird (Bobbi Morse), and Aja-Adanna (Shuri).
