“Who the (Bleep) Did I Marry?” on Investigation Discovery. In the documentary “Name, Rank, and Serial Cheater,” Matt Woods’ life in Pennsylvania in August 2013 came dangerously close to being ruined. His vengeful and estranged wife made serious accusations against him that could get him into trouble and result in a hefty prison sentence. What specifically transpired between Matt and Meri, then? We have information for you if you’re curious to learn more. So let’s get started, shall we?
Who Are Matt and Meri Jane Woods?
In 2008, Matthew “Matt” Woods called Clymer in Pennsylvania’s Indiana County home. Among her six siblings, the 35-year-old was the only one who had not yet wed. She was also the youngest. Matt put a lot of effort into building a stable financial future as his siblings got married and began children of their own. He thought he was financially secure enough to settle down and start a family in 2008 when he was the manager of an oil and gas drilling exploratory company. In October 2008, while socialising with his pals at a nearby tavern, he had the chance to realise his dreams.
At the bar, Matt met Meri Jane Woods, a 37-year-old single mother of a 9-year-old girl. She was described as the most stunning girl in the town on the show, and he had heard a lot about her. Only her reported and ridiculous behaviour with her prior lovers was the talk of the town, not her attractiveness. Donna Boughamer, a former neighbour, claimed that Meri even lied down in front of an ex-car boyfriend’s after a heated disagreement to prevent him from leaving.
But while the two talked for hours, Matt said he knew better than to listen to small-town rumours. After exchanging phone numbers, they started meeting up frequently. They soon began dating, and four months into their relationship, Matt got down on one knee. On January 9, 2009, they exchanged vows in a low-key and private ceremony at Meri’s parents’ home. He reflected on how glad he had been to marry a lovely woman and be able to settle down and raise a family.
Meri told Matt she was pregnant less than a month after their wedding, and Matt’s dreams came true. Though Matt was ecstatic, his joy did not last long. He was astounded to see how much his wife had changed just a few months after giving birth. On petty home matters like doing the laundry and washing the dishes, she started yelling and insulting him. In the spring of 2009, things got so bad that Matt was forced to leave their house while Meri threw objects at his vehicle.
He spent the night at a friend’s place and found an embarrassed Meri when he got home the next day. They made up after she put her anger down to her hormones. On October 9, 2009, a girl was born into their family, but Meri’s aggressive and ridiculous actions persisted. Matt left the house and started sleeping at his family’s lake cottage after she started accusing him of being unfaithful. Yet when a sheriff’s officer showed up to deliver a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order to him, he was taken aback.
Where Are Matt and Meri Jane Woods Today?
Meri allegedly filed the PFA after Matt allegedly flung a knife at her during a dispute, according to police reports. He was unable to see his girls until Meri came around for a reconciliation in the summer of 2012 because of the PFA. Despite moving back in together, Meri and Matt’s relationship remained tense, with the latter spending most evenings curled up on the couch. But, after getting wasted at Matt’s brother’s wedding in July 2012, they enjoyed a rare moment of closeness.
They welcomed a boy in early 2013 after Meri became pregnant again a few days later. But, Matt’s issues peaked on July 23, 2013, when Meri attacked him. His wife began accusing him of cheating and other things after he had returned from a safety lecture, including running a porn business. She assaulted him, ripped off his clothes, and reported that he had touched his infant daughter to the police. As Matt returned to his family’s lake property, he was once more issued with a PFA that prevented him from getting close to his kids.
Matt was startled when the cops called him on August 15, 2013. Meri had allegedly gone to the state police barracks in White Township and accused Matt of downloading child pornography on his computer, according to the officers. She even stated that their daughter and his niece were included in a number of the items. The computer time stamps on the pictures revealed their download on August 11, therefore the police determined the claims to be inaccurate.
On July 23, Matt moved out after receiving the PFA. Investigators also discovered Meri had downloaded the pictures on her own to use as evidence against her ex-husband. She was taken into custody on August 14, 2014, and charged with one felony crime of child pornography and one misdemeanour count of making a false report to the police. In December 2014, she was found guilty and given a nine to 23 1/2 month prison term.
She did, however, challenge her conviction, which resulted in a sentence reduction to a maximum of two years in jail. She was also required to complete a sexual offender assessment and undergo mental health exams. In Pennsylvania, Matt continues to raise her kids with the assistance of his relatives. He considers his children to be his entire universe and is now in his early 50s. He is still making every effort to forget his horrible experience.
