The long-awaited Harry & Meghan Netflix documentary made its debut on the streaming platform on December 8. The couple’s love story and the difficulties they encountered from the British media were shown to viewers in the first three parts of the six-part series, which finally led to the couple’s fleeing England and resignation from their royal duties as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Meghan and Prince Harry have been dating since 2016 after becoming friends through a common acquaintance.
Prince Harry and Meghan opted to retain their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex despite leaving the United Kingdom in January 2020 and no longer serving the British Royal Family. Since then, the couple has created their own media firm called Archewell Productions and relocated to California with their family, including their two daughters Archie and Lilibet. Later in the show, Doria revealed where she raised Meghan after she and the star’s father, Thomas Markle, divorced. Thomas and Doria were wed between 1979 and 1987. The 66-year-old revealed that their neighbourhood was exclusively Black and had “a good network of women.” said Doria,
“We lived near to my mom, her grandmother, and my sister. My girlfriends were nearby as well. So, a lovely network of women really assisted me in raising Meg. She was always so pleasant to be around and was great at making friends. She was an extremely sensitive young girl. I recall asking Meg if she felt like her mother. She also said I reminded her of her eldest, domineering sister. Never did I forget that.
At the end of episode two, when the talk turned to racism, Meghan said that even after Doria had an incident after a concert they had both attended at the Hollywood Bowl, her mother had never properly prepared her for that experience. After Doria honked at a woman as she sought to exit the gathering, Meghan said that Doria was referred to as the “n” word. Meghan said that even though Doria appeared genuinely distressed, she never brought up the incident, what it meant to be Black, or any potential difficulties they would encounter as members of a minority group.
Doria expressed sorrow for not warning Meghan about the bigotry she would experience, especially after Meghan received so much negative coverage from the U.K. media because she is a mixed-race person.
The Suits actress’s relationship with the British media, according to Doria, was so terrible that they tried to sneakily photograph Meghan while she ran errands and in various areas of Skid Row to make it look like they lived there. The homeless population of Skid Row, which is in downtown Los Angeles, California, is well-known.
After Meghan and Prince Harry announced their engagement in November 2017, Doria talked about her interaction with the paparazzi in the documentary’s third episode. She described how frequently she felt “unsafe,” to the point where she was unable to take her dog for a walk or go to work.

Despite her mother and father’s divorce in 1987, Meghan has kept a close relationship with Thomas; nevertheless, it has been briefly strained as a result of his part in damaging her reputation in the public eye. Due to this, some internet speculators believe he has a false Instagram account, or “finsta,” which is different from any publicly viewable accounts on the service.
