The final season of La Casa de Papel, also known as Money Heist, has been available for almost two years. The TV show centres on a team of thieves under the direction and instruction of “Professor,” a very educated man. The Spanish criminal drama about a bank heist frequently uses flashbacks, time leaps, and subtly revealed character motivations.
Money Heist’s popularity peaked after Netflix picked it up, becoming the most-watched non-English series on Netflix in 2018. Later in 2023, a direct spin-off with Berlin as the main character and a common universe will be released. Let’s take a look at what the actors have been up to since the release of the fifth and final season.
Alba Flores
Nairobi was probably everyone’s favourite character, and we are all still scarred by the way she died. Alba Flores is well recognised for playing Kenya in Money Heist, but she is also noted for playing Saray Vargas in Vis a Vis (Locked Up). The actress starred in the 2021 Spanish TV show Queer You Are after leaving the heist series. Flores, who self-identifies as a lesbian, played the main character’s gay companion at a university. A year later, in the drama thriller series Holy Family, Flores portrayed Caterina. The show focuses on the relationships that emerge between several women who have hidden previous secrets.
Álvaro Morte
In line with the rest of the group, Spanish actor lvaro Morte rose to fame around the world by portraying The Professor, the mastermind behind all of La Casa De Papel’s spectacular heists. During the last season’s filming, Morte also had the opportunity to portray the dual-life man Scar in the Spanish drama TV series El embarcadero (The Pier). He also had the opportunity to work on American projects, such as the epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time on Amazon Video, which is about a strong group of women who have the ability to channel great powers. Thereafter, a third season of the show was ordered. In the Spanish miniseries Boundless, which tells the fictionalised account of the First Circumnavigation of the World, Morte played Juan Sebastián Elcano in 2022.
Itziar Ituño
You might be shocked to learn that Itziar Ituo, also known as Inspector Raquel Murillo a.k.a. Lisbon, is a gifted actress and singer who sings in her native Basque language. Given that she sings for three different bands—Dangiliske, EZ3, and death metal band INGOT—she is incredibly active. By contributing a voice to the stop-motion animated short Salvation Has No Name, which examines bigotry and the refugee crisis, the actor made her English-language debut in 2020. She also stars in the basque-language Spanish-French epic fantasy Irati from 2022, which is set against the background of Christianization in the eighth century. Her star Malen Zubiri appeared in the 2022 film Intimacy, which is the story of a politician whose sex tape is revealed.
Jaime Lorente
You either adore Denver or you hate him to death every time you see Money Heist. Whatever the case, Jaime Lorente did a fantastic job portraying his part. In a Spanish historical drama of the same name, Lorente portrayed Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar “El Cid,” a knight and warlord from the 11th century. In addition to becoming an actor, Lorente also had a book of his original poetry published. He compiled a variety of his high school-era poems into A propósito de tu boca. In case that wasn’t enough, he also dabbled in music by putting out his debut EP, La noche, in 2022.
Miguel Herrán
Miguel Herrán is well recognised for playing Rio in Money Heist and Christian Varela Expósito in Élite, two famous Netflix shows. Herrán played the lead role of Manuel in the 2022 Spanish historical thriller drama Prison 77 after the heist series’ last season. The film follows the inmates’ rebellion that resulted in the attempted escape, which was based on actual events of an attempted prison break in the 1970s. The actor has continued to work in the crime genre, appearing as the teenage criminal ngel in the Spanish thriller Sky High from 2020.
Najwa Nimri
You have to acknowledge that Alicia Sierra was a badass female character, whether you liked her or not. In the Spanish TV series Vis a vis: El Oasis, where she portrays a theft suspect, Najwa Nimri made a comeback as Zulema Zahir. She sings for both her solo albums and those of her band Najwajean, similar to Ituo. Since 1998, she has been producing and releasing music, and she has been fairly consistent up until the present. She also plays Gloria, the main role, in Holy Family alongside Alba Flores. Last but not least, she debuts in the Spanish mystery-horror series 30 Coins as the new character Haruka.
Pedro Alonso
Pedro Alonso is still scheduled and active today. He is best recognised for playing the witty and sexist character Berlin in Money Heist and Diego Murqua in the historical drama series Grand Hotel. He co-starred in a Mexican TV show from 2018 called Diablo Guardián, which was based on the book of the same name about a bored Mexican woman who flees to New York with a bag of cash. She becomes the target of a writer who is driven by the need to craft a compelling tale. Alonso appeared as the lead character in the Spanish mystery thriller The Quiet of the Marsh in 2019 as a former journalist who now writes about crime. Of course, the most intriguing Alonso-related news is the upcoming release of his own Money Heist prequel series, which will exclusively tell Berlin’s narrative.
Úrsula Corberó
The role of the charismatic, perilous, and careless Tokyo in Money Heist was sufficient to bring rsula Corberó international acclaim. She was able to make her Hollywood debut in Snake Eyes, a superhero movie from 2021. The third movie in the G.I. Joe franchise was released. A top agent for a terrorist group, Corberó portrayed the Baroness in the film. The actress was anticipated to receive numerous casting inquiries for heist-themed shows, so it comes as no surprise that she has accepted one. In the upcoming Netflix movie Lift, she will play a member of yet another heist crew on August 20, 2023. According to a September 2022 announcement, Corberó will play agent Rosa Pera in the upcoming Netflix drama El cuerpo en llamas, which is based on a true tale.
