The news that his eldest son, Andrew Lloyd Webber, is “critically unwell” with stomach cancer has put the famous English composer and impresario through a tough patch. In a message posted on Saturday (March 18), the 74-year-old artist expressed his utter devastation over his son Nicholas Lloyd Webber’s diagnosis.

On March 18, Andrew Lloyd Webber released a heartbreaking statement regarding his eldest son, Nicholas Lloyd Webber (43). The 74-year-old artist disclosed that his son is “critically ill” and has been battling stomach cancer for 18 months.
The EGOT winner tweeted, “I am terribly devastated to hear that my oldest son Nick is gravely ill. He has been battling gastric cancer for the past 18 months, as my friends and family are aware, and Nick is currently in the hospital.
The English composer also announced that he has chosen to be with Nicholas during these trying times and would therefore be missing the March 23 NYC performance of his new Broadway musical, “Bad Cinderella”.
As a result, Andrew was unable to see the recent previews of “Bad Cinderella,” and as things stand, he won’t be able to support the show’s stellar cast, crew, and orchestra on Opening Night this Thursday.
“Everyone is hoping Nick will turn the corner. Although he is valiantly fighting with his unflappable humour, right now I am with him and his family. Together with Sarah Hugill, Andrew’s ex-wife, they share Nicholas. They were wed for twelve years until divorcing in 1983. Imogen Lloyd Webber, a daughter of the ex-couple, is also born.
