The Nightmare Before Christmas 2 Update: It’s Happening With Sally As Lead But It Is a YA Book | Read Details

After all these years, the Gothic holiday classic The Nightmare Before Christmas is finally getting a follow-up in the shape of a young adult book written by Shea Ernshaw of The Wicked Deep. The author has been contracted by Disney Publishing to continue The Nightmare Before Christmas’s world, but this time from Sally’s perspective. The sequel, which is set after the 1993 film, will pick up with Sally and Jack Skellington after they have wed. Of course, things can’t always be happy for the spooky couple, and when Sally unintentionally sets a Halloween Town villain loose, she is launched into a brand-new adventure.

“This new book takes place immediately after the conclusion of the movie and is written from Sally’s perspective. Sally and Jack’s untold love story is being presented. However, it’s also Sally’s coming-of-age tale as we follow her as she adjusts to her new regal position as the Pumpkin Queen of Halloween Town. While presenting a new cast of gloomy, odd people that I hope readers will enjoy, [it] will hopefully provide fans a long-awaited second dose of Sally, Jack, and all the familiar denizens of Halloween Town.”

Ernshaw claims that the novel allows her the chance to give Sally the same kind of character development and nuance as Jack did in the film.

“Jack’s struggle to comprehend who he was was one of The Nightmare Before Christmas’ main themes. He was sick of being the Pumpkin King, so he hatched a plan to take over Christmas out of his need for something better. Since Sally has fallen in love with Jack and assumed the position of the Pumpkin Queen, I really wanted to examine Sally’s identity in this book and learn more about how her past has influenced her present aspirations, fears, and doubts. What is a ragdoll’s true desire in life? What does she fear? How much is she prepared to risk in order to save those she cares about? She’s willing to take a lot of risks, as we will discover in the novel. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to tell the tale of Sally because she is one of the most interesting and multifaceted characters I’ve ever created.”

Tim Burton created and produced The Nightmare Before Christmas, which was directed by Henry Selick and first shown in 1993. The stop-motion musical fantasy centres on Jack Skellington, King of “Halloween Town,” who accidentally enters “Christmas Town” through a portal and develops a holiday-related obsession. The film, which also features Danny Elfman’s soundtrack, stars Chris Sarandon, Catherine O’Hara, William Hickey, Ken Page, Paul Reubens, Glenn Shadix, and Ed Ivory.

Since then, it has grown to be one of Tim Burton’s best-known films and a beloved holiday tradition for many, especially around Halloween and Christmas. It is very conceivable that fans may one day enjoy Halloween Town’s eccentricities and frights on cinema once more if the future Sally-centered sequel is successful. The sequel to The Nightmare Before Christmas, whose name has not yet been decided, is slated for release in July 2022. Gizmodo is the source of this information.
