What Happens Between Mabel and Tobert?
In the third season premiere of the show, Tobert is introduced, and Jesse Williams plays the part. Ben recruited cameraman Tobert to do a documentary on his Broadway debut. Ben’s passing on the night of the play’s premiere, however, leaves Tobert’s documentary unfinished. Tobert wants to utilise the video he took to create a documentary on Ben’s alleged murder. Tobert and Mabel cross paths in ‘Grab Your Hankies’, the third episode of season 3, when they break into Ben’s flat in search of information concerning the actor’s passing. In the end, Mabel and Tobert collaborate on the investigation.
In the fifth episode, titled ‘Ah, Love!’ Tobert invites Mabel to a stakeout, stating he has a lead on a suspect in the case. But when Mabel shows up, she is shocked to discover that Tobert made up the story to ask her out on a date. Mabel chooses to go along with the plan and spends the evening getting to know Tobert. However, after attracting unwanted attention, Mabel and Tobert are asked to leave the restaurant. Later, Mabel and Tobert visit the latter’s flat, where Mabel gives Tobert a kiss and shows him her murder victim board. The fifth episode thus establishes Mabel and Tobert’s romance.
