Fans of Breaking Bad were yearning a new crime saga when Ozark made its debut in the summer of 2017. Ozark is one of the most watched shows in Netflix history thanks to its shocking events, complicated characters, and chaotic black comedy vibe. Television critics were equally astounded by the series’ unexpected turns as its ardent audience. Throughout its existence, Ozark has received favourable reviews, and its first three seasons have racked up an incredible 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
Next year, the fourth and last season of Ozark will air. There will be 14 episodes in the two-part wrap-up, released in two different parts. Although filming is scheduled to continue through the fall, Netflix has already created anticipation with a teaser preview. Here is your guide to Ozark’s diverse range of characters before you dive into the compelling final chapter.
Charlotte Byrde (Sofia Hublitz)
After performing in guest appearances on Louie and Horace and Pete, recent arrival Sofia Hublitz joined Ozark as one of her first screen credits. Charlotte, the adolescent daughter of Marty and Wendy, is an independent girl who initially finds her parents’ secrecy annoying. However, after learning the real reason for their abrupt change, Charlotte becomes their ally. Although Charlotte finds it difficult to transition into a typical teenager, she unites with the Langmore kids while helping her parents.
Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery)
The foul-mouthed Darlene Snell she played in Jessica Jones, Damages, Elementary, and Fringe won Lisa Emery a challenging recurring job despite her vast television experience. Darlene and her husband Jacob (Peter Mullen) run a tremendously lucrative heroin smuggling business, and when Marty hires them, they develop an uncomfortable collaboration. Darlene frequently acts alone in stunning acts of brutality despite their collaboration.
Helen Pierce (Janet McTeer)
The White Queen, Tumbleweeds, Damages, Into the Storm, and Albert Nobbs all featured award-winning actress Janet McTeer. Helen Pierce, a public defender who secretly represents the Navarro criminal family, has the responsibility of supporting Marty in the development of his casino venture. Pierce, a ruthless veteran of the drug trade, and Wendy frequently disagree over strategies. In the third season of the show, Madison Thompson played Erin, Pierce’s innocent teenage daughter.
Throughout the first three seasons of Ozark, the cast also features Rachel Garrison as Jordana Spiro, Esai Morales as Camino “Del” Del Rio Navarro, Tom Pelphrey as Ben Davis, Jessica Frances Dukes as Maya Mille, Felix Solis as Omar Navarro, and Damian Young as Jim Rattelsdorf. Alfonso Herrera as Javi Elizonndro, Bruno Bichir as Navarro’s Priest, CC Castillo as Sheriff Leigh Guerrero, Katrina Lenk as Clare Shaw, Aaron Gillespie as Kenny, Patricia French as Lorna, and Adam Rothenberg as Mel Sattem are just a few of the new cast members who will appear in season four.
Jonah Byrde (Skylar Gaertner)
Skylar Gartner had only made cameo appearances as a young Matthew Murdock in Netflix’s Daredevil, The Americans, and They Came Together before being cast as Marty and Wendy’s younger son Jonah. Jonah has social difficulties, unlike his wealthy sister, and his parents worry that his strange conduct could be dangerous. Jonah sets out on his own adventures, making tools and weapons, and becomes increasingly intrigued by the effects of his father’s choices.
Laura Linney (Wendy Byrde)
The Savages, You Can Count on Me, Kinsey, Primal Fear, The Squid and The Whale, and HBO’s John Adams are just a few of the critically praised films in which Laura Linney, one of the most celebrated actors of her time, has starred. Wendy, Marty’s wife, is stunned by her husband’s other life, but she also harbours secrets of her own. Wendy uses her experience in political campaigning to join Marty in the Ozark operation as his brutal partner. The two frequently disagree, and Wendy’s husband finds her cold-heartedness shocking. In the third season of the show, Tom Pelphrey played Wendy’s troublesome brother Ben.
Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman)
Although Jason Bateman is best recognised for his humorous roles in Arrested Development, Horrible Bosses, The Switch, and Game Night, his intense portrayal as the dishonest financial trader Marty Byrde showed off his serious side. Bryrde runs a business in Chicago while secretly assisting a Mexican drug organisation with money laundering. After the plan fails, Marty is compelled to leave his home and relocate his family to the Ozarks in order to raise the money necessary to save their lives. Marty is self-centered but resourceful, and he depends on his wit to get by. For the second season episode “Reparations,” which he also directed, Bateman won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
Roy Petty (Jason Butler Harner)
Jason Butler Harner, a well-known stage performer, has also acted in movies like The Good Shepherd, Changeling, The Taking of Pelham 123, and Next. As part of his investigation into the Byrde case, FBI Agent Roy Petty follows the suspects to the Ozarks and becomes a part of the local population. Petty collaborates awkwardly with Trevor Evans (McKinley Belcher III), his ex-boyfriend, and finds himself drawn to Cade, Ruth’s father (Trevor Long).
Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner)
Julia Garner has had standout performances in Martha Marcy May Marlene, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Grandma, and The Assistant, but Ruth Langmore, who she played in the series, rapidly rose to the top of the list of fans’ favourites. Ruth, the rebellious 20-year-old daughter of the Langmore family, is initially dubious about Marty’s hiring but later accepts a position as one of his top lieutenants after taking some of Marty’s hidden money. Despite her disagreements with the more senior Langmores, Ruth is a ferociously educated and humorously blunt individual who cares deeply for her brothers. For her work, Garner won two Primetime Emmys for Best Supporting Actress.
Three Langmore (Carson Holmes)
The Best of Enemies, Instant Family, and Uncle Frank are just a few of the movies that feature young actor Carson Holmes. Wyatt is incredibly close to his brother Three and initially supports him wholeheartedly in the series. However, a shocking romance arc in season three makes Three more doubtful of his brother’s intentions.
Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan)
Before appearing in Ozark, Charlie Tahan gained notoriety for his roles in Charlie St. Cloud, Blue Jasmine, I Am Legend, and as Victor in the animated film Frankenweenie. Wyatt, a sensitive adolescent cousin of Ruth who is a noted troublemaker, becomes close friends with Charlotte. Wyatt, who is very protective of his family and his younger brother Three, eventually gains Ruth’s trust as she tries to take care of him.
