Finding the best answers for a child’s wellbeing is one of a parent’s most challenging and worrying tasks. The majority of diaper-changing stations in public restrooms are contaminated with bacteria and germs from the last change, making the changing tables sickening for your kid. Entrepreneurs Addie Gundry and Brittany Hizer joined Pluie on “Shark Tank” for season 14 episode 16 to discuss solutions to this issue.
Pluie is a company that makes diaper-changing tables utilising cutting-edge technology and contemporary designs that are the cleanest and most comfortable for babies. This company’s self-sanitizing Pluie Diaper Changing Station provides a hygienic and cosy way to change a baby’s diaper. With such a helpful product on display, we want to catch your attention. Let’s now explore and chart the company’s development.
Pluie: Who Are They and What Do They Do?
Pluie was created by its inventor, Addie Gundry, after she encountered a challenging circumstance in 2018. A diaper issue arose while she was out with her husband and 10-month-old baby, requiring rapid attention. When she entered the bathroom, she saw that both the toilet and the changing area were very filthy. She realised then that she needed to do something different for both her child and all other newborns. In February 2020, Gundry and Brittany Hizer established Pluie.
Entrepreneur Addie Gundry stands out thanks to her impressive educational background. She graduated from Connecticut College with a degree in English Language and Literature/Letters. She later enrolled in Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, where she received her Master of Culinary Arts degree and trained as a chef. The New York University is where Addie attended in 2011 to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Behavior Studies. Addie worked as the line cook at Redfish Bar and Grill when she was in culinary school.
She also held prestigious positions at a number of food businesses, including Daniel Boulud and Christian Etienne. Later in 2012, she joined Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia as the editorial assistant and eventually the executive assistant after working as the manager at the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group. She co-founded Food Experience Design and had positions at gravity tank (FxD). She was also a part-time faculty at The Food Business School for a year in 2015.
She has performed as an on-air personality under contract for a number of businesses, including QVC, Hallmark Cards, and others. She spent four years at Prime Publishing LLC working as an executive producer and cookbook author. She manages Pluie, her own business, in addition to serving as a member of The Female Founder Collective.
Track and field student Brittany Hizer studied at DePauw University. She obtained her Master of Business Administration at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Brittany worked with Life Fitness for more than 14 years and 6 months, rising from the position of Global Assistant Product Manager to Director, Fitness Solutions. Before taking a full-time position with Pluie as the co-founder and COO, she served as the president of Crestliner Boat as well.
The concept for this firm first surfaced in 2018, and it was formally launched in 2020. This company was started by two women to provide a practical diaper-changing method. With a cutting-edge, hygienic design, the company has created the first self-sanitizing diaper-changing table in the entire world. On February 20, 2021, the first changing table of this kind was delivered to the Angel Harvey Family Health Center of the Child Welfare Agency of Chicago.
Where is Pluie Now?
Pluie, a company founded in 2020, is modernising the experience of using a public restroom changing table by introducing the first and only self-sanitizing table in the world that is powered by patented UV-C light technology. Pluie is committed to Changing the Table® by making sure that all parents and carers on the road have a clean, secure, and pleasant option in any public restroom. Pluie’s diaper changing tables use an exclusive UV-C light system that is thought to kill 99.9% of microorganisms, including coronavirus, E. Coli, and influenza.
The UV-C light system activates when the table is closed and sanitises the changing surface in just 60 seconds. To gain recognition for this very necessary solution from periodicals like Time Magazine, Quick Business, Inc., etc., Pluie has transformed the diaper-changing experience for families in public. The Chicago-based business was also listed on Fast Company’s and TIME Magazine’s lists of the world-changing inventions of 2021 and the Top Inventions of 2021.
In 2023, public restrooms at eateries, amusement parks, airports, and sporting venues will all have flush diaper changing stations. The company sells two items: the Pluie Diaper Changing Table with UV-C Light System, which has a suggested retail price of $2899, and the Pluie Diaper Changing Table without UV-C Light System, which has a suggested retail price of $1699. This business released a brand-new product in 2023 called the Pluie Pret Changing Mat. This item is available in blue and cream, and it costs $44.99 each. Pluie is currently worth an estimated $1.3 million. With a strong profit margin and steady growth, the business is doing well, and we are interested to see what new goods it introduces.
