The decision to switch network homes is related to ViacomCBS’s plans to take the Drag Race franchise international. Three new Drag Race spin-offs will be released in Brazil, Mexico, and Germany. These spin-offs, which are now in production, will air on Paramount+ and MTV.
“With the global expansion of RuPaul’s Drag Race, we’re thrilled to bring the franchise into three new Paramount+ territories – Germany, Brazil, and Mexico – and are very excited that RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race will return for a third season with our partners at VH1/BET,” said Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Paramount Media Networks & MTV Entertainment Studios.
Additionally, RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race will return for another season on VH1, according to Scott Mills, president and chief executive officer of BET. “We are great fans of the Drag Race series,” he added.
