Schmigadoon! has not yet received a third season renewal on Apple TV+. Fans should not panic, though, as the second season is still airing, and the streaming service may decide on the show’s continuation after the current episode is over.
The season finale is scheduled to air on May 3, and following that, Apple TV+ will decide whether to proceed with a second season, given the popularity and interest in the show. It took the streaming service ten months to confirm the renewal of the prior season.
The second season was renewed for almost a year after the first season ended in August 2021, in June 2022. Fans may therefore have to endure yet another lengthy wait before Apple TV+ officially announces season 3. The third season would not be released until the start of 2025 if the current trend continues.
It is difficult to predict the third season’s plot because the show has not yet received an official renewal. But if a third season is ever produced, it is a certain that the show will be mocking another musical.
New York doctors Melissa and Josh discovered a mythical town called “Schmigadoon” in the first season, which was a parody of the 1947 musical Brigadoon. The duo entered the “Schmicago” universe in the second season and paid homage to the 1975 musical Chicago.

If a third season is produced, Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble will once again be played by Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong. Now, it’s anticipated that these performers will play brand-new characters in the third season. Depending on the plot, the programme might also get some new cast members. Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio are the authors of Schmigadoon!, with the former also contributing all of the musical’s tunes.
