Director of The Batman Matt Reeves has just announced that the Batman sequel is in the works, despite numerous cancellations of various DC projects. Following a successful portrayal of the flawed superhero in the first Batman movie, Reeves also confirmed Pattinson’s return for the follow-up.
What Did Exactly Matt Reeves Tell About Batman 2?
Chris Killian of ComicBook.com questioned Keanu Reeves about any impending movies from his perspective. I’m not going to respond to that question, but we are making a movie, he said. I’ll put it that way for you.
However, he revealed in the latter half of the conversation that they were “deep in it” and that he and Mattson were both writing. He added that it was “very amazing” and that he was “extremely excited” about what they were doing.
Robert Pattinson’s return was also confirmed by Reeves, who said: “I’m incredibly happy to be doing that with Rob. He’s just such a unique person and actor, in my opinion.
The inclusion of Matt Reeves’ Batman in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe was the subject of numerous rumours. Later, though, Gunn refuted the story and helped Pattinson embark on his solo Batman adventure in Gotham with low-level thugs.
Batman Not Being a Part of Gunn’s DCU
The Batman was planned to be included in Snyder’s DCU continuity under prior leaders. After taking over the part, Matt Reeves gave Batman and his villain a new setting. The solo adventures of Batman will receive more attention in this realm.
Pattinson expressed his obvious opinion on how awkward it would be to be a part of DCU in a prior interview. “We’ve been talking about how to acquire the magical components,” the actor said, “because [director and co-writer Matt Reeves’] world, his perspective on it is so grounded, and I’m thinking like, ‘How can you add…?'” As an example, we were discussing the other day that Superman simply lacks any special abilities. Can you include him in it? Is he just a man wearing a cape? He simply exclaims, “I’m Superman!” They then ask, “So?,”
The Spin-off Series of the Batman Is in Development
A Batman spinoff is in the works despite the revelation that Batman 2 is in development. A Penguin HBO Max series starring Colin Farrell is also in the works. There have already been a number of casting reports from Hollywood. This series will mostly act as Penguin’s genesis narrative. The lead author of the programme is Laurent Lefranc. As the series’ producers, Reeves and Dylan Clark are involved in this project.
Additionally, an unnamed television series is in the works that will centre on the legendary Arkham Asylum and its inmates. The fact that Matt Reeves is constructing his own Batman universe is abundantly obvious from all of these endeavours. When the moment is right, more Bat Family members will eventually join Bruce Wayne.
This does not imply that Batman won’t appear in Gunn and Safran’s silly DC Universe. “Our commitment to Superman, Batman, Magic Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn, and the rest of the DC roster of characters is only surpassed by our commitment to the wonder of human possibility these characters symbolise,” Gunn and Safran said in a joint statement. As we tell some of the biggest, most beautiful, and grandest stories ever told, we’re thrilled to revitalise the theatrical experience all around the world.
As far as box office revenue goes, Batman has always been a household name. The Dark Knight trilogy by Nolan has just raised the bar. Reeves, on the other hand, took a different tack with the cape crusader. Fans questioned the viability of Reeves’ Batman sequel after many DC pictures were shelved. The supporters have breathed a sigh of relief after hearing Matt Reeves’ own remarks.
