On November 10, 2023, Netflix will release the movie. The preview video for the 2023 movie, which the streaming service unveiled, offers a glimpse of the picture. The Killer centers on a hitman who, after years of being the best assassin, starts to experience psychological problems.

“After a fatal near-miss, an assassin confronts his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he maintains isn’t personal,” is the official summary for the movie. Andrew Kevin Walker, a BAFTA-nominated writer who collaborated with David Fincher on the critically acclaimed film Se7en, has adapted the movie.

The movie was originally going to be released by Paramount, but after Fincher negotiated a four-year agreement with the streaming behemoth, it ended up on Netflix. Mank and Mindhunter, the director’s earlier films, are also available on Netflix. Ceán Chaffin is the producer of The Killer. The project’s executive producer is Alexandra Milchan.

Alexis Nolent wrote and Luc Jacamon illustrated the Killer graphic novel series. 12 volumes total in the series were printed between 1998 and 2013. Due to the books’ enormous popularity, they were later translated from their original language of French into English. Archaia Studios Press released the series in the US.

Fincher was confirmed as the director when the movie was first announced in 2007, however there were a number of delays. Netflix approved the project in February 2021, and Erik Messerschmidt joined as the director of photography. In Paris, the filming commenced in November of the same year and was completed in March of 2022.

Michael Fassbender plays Christian/The Killer in the movie. After his last film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, came out four years ago, the actor will be making a comeback. The remaining cast members are well-known actors Tilda Swinton, Kerry O’Malley from Case 39, Charles Parnell from Top Gun: Maverick, Arliss Howard from Full Metal Jacket, and Brazilian actor Sophie Charlotte.

A case study of a guy who is alone, heavily armed, and rapidly going insane, The Killer is described as a “brutal, gory, and stylish noir story about a professional assassin trapped in a world without a moral compass.” It will be fascinating to see whether Fincher can once more work his magic with this psychological suspense.
