The Film is Based on the ‘Exquisite Corpse’ Game Concept
Jane (Gillian Jacobs) drives away from her ordinary existence and embarks on an exhilarating voyage on the road after dropping her daughter off at a sleepaway camp, according to the official synopsis of the movie.
“Jane’s challenges, connections, and moments were made by playing an exquisite corpse game, a technique for making art by bringing together disparate elements to form a whole.” French surrealists invented the idea, in which one person penned a sentence fragment and the next person filled it in with their own imagination.
“Each filmmaker operated from the story’s initial premise, with a few ground rules, but the genre, tone, speed, new characters, and any other narrative specifics were entirely at their own discretion,” the concept reads.
“They worked independently without being aware of what the other directors were doing, and they were encouraged to express their distinct vision, creative energy, and directing style. Then, each section of Jane’s adventure was pieced together to create a single, full-length feature film,” it adds.
