The Walking Dead Spinoff With Daryl As Lead Is Confirmed : Here’s What We Know!

The Walking Dead’s conclusion is just the beginning. The TWD universe isn’t so much coming to an end as it is growing more, with the series finale of AMC’s acclaimed zombie thriller scheduled to air sometime this fall. As at least three new spinoff series emerge from the ashes of this season finale, joining the original companion series Fear the Walking Dead, AMC will soon have four Walking Dead programmes available to those who want zombies all year long.

Daryl and Carol would have taken a road journey to brand-new, uncharted territory in one of the spinoffs. This show is still going on, however only Norman Reedus is now travelling. Melissa McBride has left the show owing to logistical problems, according to AMC.

AMC confirmed in a statement to TV Line that she is “unfortunately no longer able to participate in the previously announced spinoff based on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and air next year.” “At this point, Melissa’s decision to relocate to Europe was no longer feasible logistically. We are aware that this revelation will disappoint some fans, but the world of The Walking Dead keeps developing in intriguing new ways, and we sincerely hope to see Carol again soon.

This announcement will definitely upset fans who had hoped to follow the continuing exploits of two of the most well-known Walking Dead characters of all time, but AMC’s statement has another exciting nugget. Instead of simply wondering around the same old North American wasteland that this universe has fully explored over the past decade and change, Daryl will allegedly be exploring post-apocalyptic Europe in this spinoff.

The European environment may also provide some hints as to the overall theme of Daryl’s presentation. The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s cliffhanger hinted, for instance, that French scientists might be to responsible for the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse. In an effort to track down the researchers who produced the virus and discover a permanent treatment, may Daryl be making his way to France? Daryl, a rough-around-the-edges nice guy who typically likes to tackle problems with his crossbow and not science, would undoubtedly feel out of place in such a situation.

Naturally, it’s also conceivable that his trip to Europe has nothing whatever to do with the zombie virus. Could he be looking for Rick Grimes once more? On The Walking Dead, season 11, Daryl believes Rick is dead, but what if he discovers in the season finale that Rick is still alive and is hiding out in Europe? (After all, we are aware that the CRM, the group that rescued Rick in his final episode of The Walking Dead, has an international network.) That would undoubtedly be sufficient justification for Daryl to stop everything he’s doing and embark on an international journey. He might still locate Rick while looking for him at the lab where those researchers may have developed the virus. Anyhow, speculating is entertaining.

A “revolving set of characters” will be included in this spinoff, according to Reedus, who stated to Den of Geek in 2020 that Daryl and Carol would be “going to see who’s left in the world.”

At the time, Reedus noted, “It’s a chance for us to acquire really outstanding actors and extremely brilliant writers who don’t have to sign a seven-year deal.” They visit for one or two episodes. For many actors, I believe, that represents an exciting scenario or prospect.

All of that is fine, but it’s a shame Carol won’t be travelling with you.

The premiere of this Walking Dead spin-off is anticipated for 2023. A six-episode anthology series called Tales of the Walking Dead is currently under production. Both a Rick Grimes movie and the Maggie and Negan spinoff, Isle of the Dead, are now in production. This fall, The Walking Dead season 11’s last eight episodes will air.
