Although Trevor Noah’s departure from “The Daily Show” as host at the end of this year may be upsetting to many, for Noah it is a “joyous” occasion. The presenter said on Thursday night that he really feels like he’s finishing strong.
At the conclusion of the taping for the programme that aired on Thursday, Sept. 29, Noah made his initial announcement. He noted that week was also his seven-year anniversary with “The Daily Show.” On “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Noah was questioned about his reasons for departing and expressed surprise that people had been so unhappy.
The “Daily Show” presenter said that because of the pandemic, “everyone has gone through a period of looking at their lives,” including himself.
“I think you haven’t experienced what we’ve all experienced if you don’t look at your life and consider what you’d like to do differently, you know?” Noah elucidated. “Therefore, I consider this to be a joyful thing.”
Noah stated that he believes it’s preferable to go while both he and his audience are still fond of him in the part.
“Because consider if it were the opposite. People say ‘Yeah’ when I say ‘I’m leaving,’ he laughed. “Leave while it’s still enjoyable, when you still adore it, and while you still have the strength to take pleasure in it. I’m going to enjoy every minute of the remaining three months with everyone on the programme.
When asked what he’ll be doing after hosting, Noah said he plans to do “everything,” starting with returning to his stand-up comedy origins and performing live shows all around the world once more.
“I can’t wait to get everything done. Doing stand-up all over the world limited the amount of travel I could do. I’m looking forward to going to a place where I used to spend weeks at a time. I would study the culture or learn some of the language, Noah added. “I’m going to resume doing that. Producing, as in, resuming work behind the camera and developing new concepts You know, returning home to South Africa to spend more time with the family What I will be doing is everything.
