Unpredictable movie endings provide a unique kind of satisfaction. Twists are always welcome in any genre, and the more satisfying a twist is, the more shocking it is. From 1941’s Citizen Kane to 1960’s Psycho to 1974’s Chinatown to 1999’s The Sixth Sense to 2006’s The Prestige, twist endings have raised the stakes in filmmaking in ways that were previously unthinkable. In light of this, we present to you the best twist-ending films that Hulu has to offer.
A Haunting in Venice (2023)
The third stand-alone entry in the Agatha Christie novel adaption series, “A Haunting in Venice,” is directed by Kenneth Branagh. Branagh plays Belgian investigator Hercule Poirot, whose penchant for odd and puzzling cases frequently puts him in danger of death. In the novel “A Haunting in Venice,” Poirot attends a séance in a palazzo in Venice and becomes involved in a paranormal case involving individuals passing away in mysterious ways as a result of the palazzo’s troubled past. Poirot needs to identify the source of the deaths as quickly as possible because it puts his own life in jeopardy. Kelly Reilly, Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Kyle Allen, and Emma Laird are among the cast members. Poirot’s deductive reasoning skills, the intricate investigation, the stylish imagery, and a shocking conclusion make this film an absolute must-see, particularly for fans of detective fiction. Nightmare Alley (2021)
Stan’s attempt to use his newly discovered clairvoyant abilities—which he obtained from a clairvoyant lady named Zeena and his mentalist husband Pete—does not go as planned. He is unaware of the double-edged sword he is holding as he attempts to assist the affluent tycoon Ezra Grindle, with the help of psychotherapist Dr. Lilith Ritter. Ritter is manipulative, but Grindle is dangerous. Zeena herself has warned that failure will have two consequences. Stan finds it difficult to hang on when things do start to go wrong. A must-watch thriller, “Nightmare Alley” is a trademark Guillermo del Toro film, expertly stylized and highlighted by Stan’s dark backstory, which is exposed right at the opening of the film. The film features Rooney Mara, Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette, Paul Anderson, and Willem Dafoe and is based on William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel of the same name. Here is where you can watch it.
Personal Shopper (2016)
It is impossible to ignore the enigmatic aura that surrounds Kristen Stewart. And she makes good use of this in “Personal Shopper.” The film, which was directed by Olivier Assayas, centres on Maureen, a supermodel’s personal shopper. Like her twin brother, who died unexpectedly, she is also a medium, able to interact with the spirit world. Maureen has been waiting for his signs ever since he vowed to get in touch with her from the dead, but she hasn’t received any as of yet. Maureen does, however, respond when her brother’s partner begs her to get in touch with him prior to selling his residence. As a result, Maureen starts having paranormal experiences and starts getting texts from unknown people. Who is speaking to her, his brother or someone else? “Personal Shopper” includes a number of turns, both towards the end and throughout. You can watch the movie here to find out what they are.
Run (2020)
In the most compassionate way, a mother-daughter bond can be frightening. “Run” takes this idea and uses it to its advantage in a thought-provoking way to give us a spine-tingling experience. The film, which was directed by Aneesh Chaganty, stars Kiera Allen and Sarah Paulson as mother Diane and daughter Chloe, respectively. Because of her congenital issues, Chloe uses a wheelchair, and Diane has been homeschooling her. However, Chloe discovers a Change of Name Certificate bearing her mother’s name as she attempts to investigate her mother’s unusual behaviour. When she tries to search for the name, the Wi-Fi is unavailable. As time passes, Chloe begins to suspect Diane’s excessive concern, which seems to be a sign of the darkness she harbours inside. Is Diane Chloe’s mother in real life? Is it preferable to flee, or does Chloe even want to discover the truth? Paulson gives a riveting performance in “Run,” which is an exciting film to watch. This is the place where you may accomplish it.
Would You Rather (2012)
“Would You Rather,” which is helmed by David Guy Levy, is essentially a film about choices, which is the central theme of life. But unlike in real life, things get really nasty and bloody in the movie. Our young heroine, Iris, accepts to play a game set up by affluent philanthropist Shepard Lambrick after he gives her the cash needed to pay for her brother’s leukaemia treatment. The title of the game refers to the movie in which the players are presented with two lethal options. We advise you to watch it because revealing the options would give away the plot’s twists and turns. You may view it here, and when you start watching, try not to think too positively.
