The consolidated city-parish of New Orleans, which has a distinctive vibe in part because of its multilingual and multicultural background, is where a significant portion of “Twisted Metal” was recorded. According to reports, the Lakeshore/Lake Vista neighbourhood serves as the backdrop for some important show sequences. How much of the series’ filming was done practically was a question Anthony Mackie was posed during an interview with Rolling Stone in June 2023. “…(A lot) of the aspects of this show were done practically,” he retorted. We needed a mall scenario, so we searched for a deserted mall and hauled ourselves through it. It was fantastic because we shot there in New Orleans. We were able to employ and distinguish as our locations numerous spaces and locales that appear to be post-apocalyptic.

“And then we just had the luxury of having so many different locations to shoot,” Anthony continued. However, a majority of the scenes were shot practically, and we only used CGI for what we needed. Although we lacked a real machine gun, everything around them was real. In addition to “Twisted Metal,” New Orleans has over the years served as the location for a variety of films and television shows. ‘Jurassic World,’ ‘Baby Driver,’ ‘American Made,’ ’21 Jump Street,’ and ‘True Lies’ are a few of the famous ones.
LaPlace, Louisiana
Another significant location for “Twisted Metal” filming is the census-designated place of LaPlace in the Louisianan parish of St. John the Baptist. The filmmaking crew reportedly used LaPlace’s interior and exterior spaces to record a variety of on-location scenarios.
