Why did the 2023 ‘Made in America’ Festival get canceled?
‘Made in America’ Festival will not be happening this year. The music festival created by American rapper Jay-Z, which takes place along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway has been canceled.
The organizers of the music festival shared, “Due to severe circumstances outside of production control, the 2023 Made In America festival will no longer be taking place. This decision has been difficult and has not been made lightly nor without immense deliberation.”
They further added, “Made in America has a legacy of delivering exceptional experiences for music fans and concert goers, and it is our commitment to always deliver a top-tier festival experience.”
The statement continued, “We look forward to returning to Benjamin Franklin Parkway and the great city of Philadelphia in 2024. All ticket holders will be refunded at original point of purchase.”
As per various reports, this year, the 2-day music festival was scheduled for September 2 and September 3. The artists set to headline the 2023 ‘Made in America’ Festival were Lizzo and SZA.
While having a chat with CNN, Philadelphia’s Mayor Jim Kenney reflected on the current situation and said, “I’m disappointed to hear that the 2023 Made In America festival will no longer be taking place. Since 2012, Made in America has grown into a Philly tradition on Labor Day Weekend celebrating music and promoting worthwhile social causes.”
Here’s all you need to know about the allegations against Lizzo
Earlier this month, three of Lizzo’s former dancers accused her of sexual harassment. They reportedly accused the Grammy-winning singer of creating a “hostile, abusive work environment.”

As per the lawsuit filed on August 1, 2023, by Crystal Williams, Arianna Davis, and Noelle Rodriguez, the incidents happened between 2021 and 2023. Along with Lizzo, the plaintiffs are also suing her Big Grrrl Big Touring production company and her dance captain Shirlene Quigley.
Apart from this, the performers also talked about an instance that took place in February where the About Damn Time singer made them feel uncomfortable. Then, Lizzo took her crew out to pay a visit to Amsterdam’s Red Light District.
They accused the popular musician of criticizing a dancer’s recent weight gain. Soon after, Crystal and Arianna were fired from the job, on the other hand, when we talk about Noelle, she quit the job.
