More performances at NBCUniversal’s Peacock have ended almost as quickly as they began. According to a Deadline report on Friday, one of the most recent shows to be canceled is the brand-new series Vampire Academy. After only one season, which began in September on Peacock, it ends abruptly. The majority of the reviews were favorable, and Peacock executives allegedly liked the show’s creative direction, but not enough people watched it to warrant ordering a second season.
Vampire Academy was created by Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre for Peacock based on the Richelle Mead book series. The 2014 movie with the same name, which was also based on the original books, has no relation to the television series. In the program, Daniela Nieves plays a Moroi princess vampire while Sisi Stringer plays Rose Hathaway, a Dhampir guardian-in-training, as the two attend St. Vladimir’s Academy.
Andre Dae Kim, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Jonetta Kaiser, Andrew Liner, Rhian Blundell, and J. August Richards are featured on the program as well. Along with Emily Cummins, Don Murphy, Susan Montford, Deepak Nayar, and Jillian DeFrehn, it is executive produced by Plec and MacIntyre.
