Joe Goldberg is Living a New Life in London in You Season 4
In the previous season’s finale, Goldberg staged a murder-suicide before leaving for Paris and moving to London to start a new life. The season’s trailer, which was released by Netflix last month, featured the stalker in his or her academic capacity. He is, however, once more becoming fixated on a different woman. In the meantime, a serial killer stalks the city, picking off the wealthy.
“After his previous life blew up in flames, Joe Goldberg has fled to Europe to escape his “messy” past, acquire a new identity, and, of course, to pursue true love,” reads the season’s official synopsis.
But as he learns he might not be the only murderer in London, Joe soon finds himself in the weird new position of reluctant detective. His future now hinges on finding and stopping the person who is pursuing his new friend group of extremely wealthy socialites, it continues.
Goldberg has Learned from his Mistakes, Says Showrunner
Showrunner Sera Gamble discussed the upcoming season and shared the rationale behind moving Joe’s plotline overseas. She noted, “It’s wonderful to put someone who knows literary tropes into one of the tropiest storylines possible, and it gels perfectly with the concept that he’s actually going to change now.
He’s finished killing, he’s learnt from his errors, and he’ll do whatever it takes to balance the karmic scales. That doesn’t simply entail shaving your head and becoming a teacher; it also can entail making an effort to defend those who, in the past, would have preferred that you ignore what was happening, if not actively take part in it.
The cast of You season 4 includes Ed Speleers as Rhys Montrose, Tilly Keeper as Lady Phoebe, Tilli Gabrielle as Marienne Bellamy, Charlotte Ritchie as Kate, Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, Lukas Gage as Adam Pratt, and Tilli Keeper as Lady Phoebe.
