A comedian and actress from the United States, Yvette Reneé Wilson passed away on June 14, 2012. She was well-known for playing Thea Armstrong’s younger sister Lynette Armstrong on the ABC sitcom Thea (1993–1994), the shopkeeper Andell Wilkerson on the UPN sitcom Moesha (1996–2000), and Nikki’s (Mo’Nique’s) best friend Nikki on the network’s spinoff The Parkers (1999–2004). She had made numerous comic appearances, including House Party 3, Friday, and Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam. Additionally, she was well-known for playing Rita in the 1995 F. Gary Gray movie Friday. At the age of 48, Wilson passed away from cervical cancer.

In a Twitter posted late night, Wilson’s co-star in the Moesha film Shar Jackson announced the news: “I want to thank all my tweeties for their prayers unfortunately god has chosen to take my sister Yvette home.”

Wilson’s death was initially reported by NewsOne, who also noted that the actress was dealing with kidney issues and growing medical debts. A page had been set up to solicit $25,000 for her medical treatment.

Wilson starred in Moesha and its sequel The Parkers as Andell Wilkerson, a friend of Brandy Norwood’s character. The actress appeared in Friday, House Party 2, House Party 3, and Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam, among other projects.
