Taylor Swift’s New Video “Lavender Haze” Is The Current Obsession Of Everyone

  • DCS

Taylor Swift first hinted that she will release multiple music videos alongside her most recent blockbuster album “Midnights” back in October 2022. Shortly after, the music videos for her debut single “Anti-Hero” and follow-up “Bejeweled” were released. After waiting three months, we finally have a music video for Swift’s second single, “Lavender Haze,” which was released on January 27.

Just hours after the release of her “Midnights” album on October 21, Swift debuted the first of many music videos for the song “Anti-Hero.” Since Cinderella and Taylor Swift are two well-known blondes with strong ties to midnight, it makes fitting that the second music video from “Midnights,” which debuted on October 25, was a Cinderella-themed tale for her song “Bejeweled.”

Prior to the release of “Midnights,” Swift published a schedule with her followers on social media, but it was never made clear when the remainder of her videos will be released.

During the Oct. 20 Thursday Night Football simulcast on Prime Video, Swift teased the debut of a series of “Midnights music flicks.” Her collaborators Jack Antonoff, the Haim sisters, Dita Von Teese, and others made cameo appearances in the visuals, which were shot by cinematographer Rina Yang (who also worked with her on the “All Too Well” short film).

“Here is the teaser trailer for the Midnights videos I created: I appreciate @amazonmusic for releasing this, “Swift uploaded a preview video for the visual album on Twitter along with the writing. Fans will just have to wait and watch since we’re still unsure of how many more videos there will be.

Take a look at each of Swift’s “Midnights” music videos that have already been made before studying their lyrics.

Taylor Swift’s “Lavender Haze” Music Video

On January 27, Swift debuted the music video for “Lavender Haze,” the second official single from “Midnights.” In the music video, Swift is seen having intimate moments with her partner, who is portrayed by transgender activist and model Laith Ashley. However, by the end of the video, she is out dancing with him in a retro dance club until she awakens in her bedroom as fish swim through space outside her window. Swift explained the idea behind the video on Twitter, saying, “This was the first video I composed out of the 3 that have been released.” And this one truly helped me visualise the setting and tone of Midnights, which was like a seductive, restless fever dream from the 1970s.
Taylor Swift‘s “Lavender Haze” Lyrics
INTRO
Meet me at midnight
(Ooh, ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

VERSE 1
Staring at the ceiling with you
Oh, you don’t ever say too much
And you don’t really read into
My melancholia

PRE-CHORUS
I’ve been under scrutiny (yeah, oh yeah)
You handle it beautifully (yeah, oh yeah)
All this sh*t is new to me (yeah, oh yeah)

CHORUS
I feel a lavender haze creeping up on me
So real, I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal, the 1950s sh*t they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
(Ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

VERSE 2
All they keep asking me (all they keep asking me)
Is if I’m gonna be your bride
The only kind of girl they see (the only kind of girl they see)
Is a one night or a wife

PRE-CHORUS
I find it dizzying (yeah, oh yeah)
They’re bringing up my history (yeah, oh yeah)
But you aren’t even listening (yeah, oh yeah)

CHORUS
I feel a lavender haze creeping up on me
So real, I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal, the 1950s sh*t they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
(ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

BRIDGE
That lavender haze
Talk your talk and go viral
I just need this love spiral
Get it off your chest
Get it off my desk (get it off my desk)

Talk your talk and go viral
I just need this love spiral
Get it off your chest
Get it off my desk

CHORUS
I feel (I feel) a lavender haze creeping up on me
So real, I’m damned if I do give a damn what people say
No deal (no deal), the 1950s sh*t they want from me
I just wanna stay in that lavender haze
(Ooh, ooh, whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa)

OUTRO
Get it off your chest
Get it off my desk
That lavender haze
I just wanna stay
I just wanna stay
In that lavender haze

Taylor Swift’s “Bejeweled” Music Video

At 00:00 on October 25, Swift made available the second music video for “Midnights,” “Bejeweled.” The following night, she appeared on “The Tonight Show,” where she discussed the footage. She described the film to Jimmy Fallon as “a little spin” on the traditional Cinderella tale. The video, she added, contains a “psychotic amount” of Easter eggs, the host was informed. Swift tries her hand at burlesque in the video, which imagines the prince’s ball as a talent event with a significant prize and also features the Haim sisters, Laura Dern, Dita Von Teese, Jack Antonoff, and Pat McGrath.

Taylor Swift’s “Bejeweled” Lyrics
VERSE 1
Baby love, I think I’ve been a little too kind
Didn’t notice you walkin’ all over my peace of mind
In the shoes I gave you as a present
Puttin’ someone first only works when you’re in their top five
And by the way, I’m goin’ out tonight

CHORUS
Best believe I’m still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer
And when I meet the band
They ask, “Do you have a man?”
I could still say, “I don’t remember”
Familiarity breeds contempt
Don’t put mе in the basement
Whеn I want the penthouse of your heart
Diamonds in my eyes
I polish up real, I polish up real nice

POST-CHORUS
Nice

VERSE 2
Baby boy, I think I’ve been too good of a girl (Too good of a girl)
Did all the extra credit, then got graded on a curve
I think it’s time to teach some lessons
I made you my world (Huh), have you heard? (Huh)
I can reclaim the land
And I miss you (Miss you)
But I miss sparklin’ (Nice)

CHORUS
Best believe I’m still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer
And when I meet the band
They ask, “Do you have a man?”
I could still say, “I don’t remember”
Familiarity breeds contempt
Don’t put mе in the basement
Whеn I want the penthouse of your heart
Diamonds in my eyes
I polish up real, I polish up real nice

POST-CHORUS
Nice

BRIDGE
Sapphire tears on my face
Sadness became my whole sky
But some guy said my aura’s moonstone
Just ’cause he was high
And we’re dancin’ all night
And you can try to change my mind
But you might have to wait in line
What’s a girl gonna do?
A diamond’s gotta shine

CHORUS
Best believe I’m still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer (Shimmer)
And when I meet the band
They ask, “Do you have a man?”
I could still say, “I don’t remember”
Familiarity breeds contempt
Don’t put me in the basement
When I want the penthouse of your heart
Diamonds in my eyes
I polish up real (Nice), I polish up real nice

OUTRO
And we’re dancin’ all night
And you can try to change my mind
But you might have to wait in line
What’s a girl gonna do? What’s a girl gonna do?
I polish up nice
Best believe I’m still bejeweled
When I walk in the room
I can still make the whole place shimmer

Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” Music Video

One of Swift’s favourite songs she’s ever written is “Anti-Hero,” track three on “Midnights.” On October 3, she shared a video on Instagram in which she discussed the song’s significance and its intimate nature.

She admitted, “I actually don’t think I’ve delved into my concerns in this length before. “I have a lot of trouble accepting the notion that my life has grown too big. I don’t want to seem depressing, but I find it difficult to imagine not feeling like a person.” A “guided tour” of “all the things she tends to despise about [herself],” according to Swift, is what the song is about. If we want to be this person, we have to accept all of the characteristics of the qualities we like and despise about ourselves, she continued. “I think ‘Anti-Hero’ is incredibly honest, which is why I appreciate it so much.”

Similar to this, Swift’s “Anti-Hero” music video recreates the singer’s problems. For instance, in one scene, a big version of Swift crawls through a tiny room and eats little food off the table with tiny silverware. The scene is a pretty accurate representation of Swift’s perception of her life as being “unmanageably huge.”

Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” Lyrics
VERSE 1
I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift
All of the people I’ve ghosted stand there in the room

I should not be left to my own devices, they come with prices and vices, I end up in crisis
(Tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I’ll watch as you’re leaving
‘Cause you got tired of my scheming
(for the last time)

CHORUS
It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

VERSE 2
Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby
And I’m a monster on the hill
Too big to hang out
Slowly lurching toward your favorite city
Pierced through the heart but never killed

Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism like some kind of congressman
(Tale as old as time)
I wake up screaming from dreaming
One day I’ll watch as you’re leaving
And life will lose all its meaning
(for the last time)

CHORUS
It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

BRIDGE
I have this dream my daughter-in-law kills me for the money
She thinks I left them in the will
The family gathers ’round and reads it
And then someone screams out
“She’s laughing up at us from hell!”

OUTRO
It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
It’s me
Hi
Everybody agrees
Everybody agrees

CHORUS
It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me (I’m the problem, it’s me)
At teatime (teatime)
Everybody agrees (Everybody agrees)
I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero
