Ballerina (2024)
Starring in “Ballerina,” a spin-off of the renowned “John Wick” franchise, is Ana de Armas. The action-thriller movie follows ballerina-assassin Rooney as she tracks out her family’s killers in an attempt to exact retribution. In ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,’ De Armas plays Unity Phelan’s cameo role as Rooney. Ian McShane plays Winston Scott and Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick in this film, which is set between the events of “Parabellum” and “John Wick: Chapter 4.”
Norman Reedus (of “The Walking Dead” and “Triple 9”), Gabriel Byrne (of “Lost Girls” and “War of the Worlds”), and Catalina Sandino Moreno (of “At the Devil’s Door” and “Incarnate”) are also featured in the movie. In one of his last roles, Lance Reddick plays Charon in the movie. The actor tragically passed suddenly in March 2023. Len Wiseman, the filmmaker of “Total Recall,” is directing the movie, which opens in theatres on June 7, 2024.
Eden (TBA)
De Armas will also feature in the survival thriller “Eden,” which follows a group of individuals who flee civilization and travel to the Galápagos Islands in quest of a deeper meaning in life. Vanessa Kirby, Sydney Sweeney, Jude Law, Richard Roxburgh, Daniel Bruhl, and Felix Kammerer accompany the actress. But for the time being, the characters’ specifics are being kept a secret. Ron Howard, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker behind “The Da Vinci Code,” “A Beautiful Mind,” and “Frost/Nixon,” is directing the movie. Noah Pink’s script, which is based on Howard’s story, is being funded by Imagine Entertainment. We do not yet know when it might be released, but it is now in the filming stage.
Waiting for Helen (TBA)
The film “Waiting for Helen,” directed by Kevin Pollak (of “The Late Bloomer” and “Misery Loves Comedy”), is characterised as a modern noir thriller. Franklin, the detective at the centre of the film, recounts “a stranger a story of a young waitress named Helen, who befriended a customer and was asked to help prove her husband’s infidelity.” Before the night ends, Franklin needs to find a solution for Helen, or else her life may be lost. The remaining members of the cast are a mystery, however De Armas is anticipated to play Helen.
“I required that exceptional blend of astonishing character depth and striking beauty. In 2018, Pollak stated of the actress, “Ana was my first choice for Helen, and I feel profoundly lucky to direct her in this role.” But since then, there haven’t been any new developments on the film, and preproduction is still ongoing.
