Avatar: The Way of Water will finally be released on December 16 after a 13-year wait. The film is a sequel to the 2009 blockbuster Avatar, which is still the highest-grossing movie of all time and one of the most anticipated films of the year.
The sequel to Avatar will return viewers to the tranquil home of Jake and Neytiri and their family on Pandora. The couple must battle this new threat to defend their planet and their children, therefore the serenity they have is only temporary.
However, The Way of Water will be followed by Avatar 3, another sequel, continuing the story of Pandora. Fans are already speculating as to whether Avatar 2 contains a post-credits scene that teases the upcoming movie in the series. Continue reading to learn more.
Is There an End Credits Scene in Avatar 2: The Way of Water?
The Way of Water doesn’t have an end-credits scene, so if you were hoping to see Avatar 3 at the end, you’re going to be disappointed. Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, post- and mid-credits scenes have gained some popularity recently, although James Cameron does not seem to be a big fan of the style.
No previous Cameron production, including the first Avatar, included an end-credits scene (2009). But this year, when the movie was re-released in IMAX theatres, it was accompanied by never-before-seen footage from Avatar: The Way of Water.
Additionally, Avatar 2 is 192 minutes long, so you can still stick around for the credits to honour the visual effects creators who toiled ceaselessly for several years to bring the epic opus to life. However, there would undoubtedly not be a moment at the conclusion that hinted at Avatar 3.
Avatar 2 and 3 were Filmed Simultaneously
While the audience had to wait 13 years for the Avatar sequel, there won’t be much of a delay between the second and third movies because they were both shot at the same time. The already announced release date for Avatar 3 is December 20, 2024.
When discussing his choice to produce the two movies simultaneously, Cameron recently stated, “We combined the schedules for 2 and 3 together, based on the types of sequences and the environments. I suggested that we treat it as a six-hour miniseries and assume that Frankfurt will only be visited once. All of the scenes from scenes 2 and 3 will be shot simultaneously.
“That was pretty much the theme. Another difficulty was finding actors. We worked together on all of the scenes for numbers two and three, as well as a small amount of number four, that required a certain actor. I had to shoot the youngsters out once again for this reason. On page 25 of movie 4, they are given permission to reach the age of six. I therefore needed everything before, he said.
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, Sigourney Weaver, and Matt Gerald will all be back for Avatar: The Way of Water. Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Oona Chaplin, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, David Thewlis, and Vin Diesel are just a few of the new actors that will be joining the group.
