In many of our childhood plays, almost all of us have played the role of a ‘Rambo’ inspired warrior or a ‘Bond’ inspired superspy. We enjoy adventure as much as — if not more than — any romance. Adventure heroes save the world from cold-blooded villains by driving fancy cars, wielding strange weaponry, and saving humanity. An action adventure picture is more than just an adrenaline rush; it’s our doorway to feed the explorer in all of us. After a long week of work, a movie like ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ may save our weekend. With that in mind, here’s a list of great adventure films on Amazon Prime that you can watch right now:
Annihilation (2018)
‘Annihilation’ is about Kane, an Army Special Forces member who goes missing during a covert operation. Despite the fact that Kane is considered dead, his wife Lena discovers him in their bedroom one night. Kane appears frail and has no recollection of what happened to him. He is taken to the hospital by Lena. On the way, however, the couple is kidnapped by unknown government agents. Kane was part of an expedition into ‘the Shimmer,’ an environmental disaster zone, which Lena learns about. He appears to be the solitary survivor from the Shimmer.
Lena intends to follow in her husband’s footsteps with an all-female squad as Kane is dying. She joins a team that includes an anthropological, a psychologist, a surveyor, and a linguist for the risky excursion into ‘the Shimmer.’ The squad enters the mysteries of the ever-expanding and gleaming membrane as it crosses the border. The film is directed by Alex Garland and is based on Jeff VanderMeer’s novel of the same name. Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny, and Oscar Isaac star in ‘Annihilation.’

The naive men quickly learn that neither nature nor the authorities are on their side. The would-be criminals quickly devolve into a loose band of desperate guys. The reality of tracking down innocent civilians whose lives had been ruined by the Civil War was too much for them. ‘Bad Company’ is an irreverent twist on the Western genre that also happens to be a pitch-perfect Western story. Robert Benton directs the film, which is based on a script he co-wrote with David Newman. In the film, Jeff Bridges, Barry Brown, and Jim Davis play pivotal parts.
The docudrama ‘Cartel Land’ is about vigilante groups combating the deadly Mexican drug cartels. Criminals create havoc in the neighborhood, making public life a nightmare. El Doctor leads the insurrection and strives for a peaceful future. On the American side, Tim ‘Nailer’ Foley, a war veteran, leads the paramilitary outfit Arizona Border Recon. They protect Arizona’s Altar Valley, widely known as Cocaine Alley, from drug traffickers from Mexico. They keep the violent drug battles from spilling over into the United States. The dramatic portrayal of vigilante gangs that thwart organized crime along the Mexican–American border won ‘Cartel Land’ excellent reviews. Matthew Heineman is the director of the documentary film.
