Bloodhounds Season 2 Possibilities Explored: What’s Next for the Gripping Crime Drama

  • DCS

Joo-hwan Kim (also known as Jason Kim), a South Korean writer-director, is the man behind the Netflix original series “Bloodhounds.” It is based on a Webtoon comic of the same name in Korean written and illustrated by Mangaka Jeong Chan. Two boxers join forces with a kind loan shark in the action criminal drama series to take down the villainous CEO of a business that torments those who owe money to it. Viewers must be wondering if the show will return for a second season as the first season ends on a satisfying note and wraps up the plot. Here is everything you need to know about “Bloodhounds” season 2 in that case.

Will Bloodhounds Season 2 Happen?

Bloodhounds was made available on Netflix on June 9, 2023. The first season of the action drama series comprises of eight episodes, each of which lasts around sixty minutes. The streaming service released all of the first season’s episodes on the same day. Critics have generally given the series excellent reviews, praising its poignant storyline and action choreography. The plot has not yet been continued in a second installment, however, as Netflix has not yet picked up the show for additional episodes. But there is still optimism because the programme hasn’t been axed either.

The creators of the show and the streaming provider have not yet released any formal statements regarding its future. As a result, it’s likely that Netflix will examine the show’s popularity on its platform for a while before making a decision. A second season may be released in the upcoming months if the show becomes popular with fans and draws more viewers than Netflix anticipated. However, it doesn’t appear likely that the sitcom will make a second season.

The major conflict of “Bloodhounds” season 1 is resolved at the show’s conclusion when protagonists Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-Jin fight loan shark Kim Myeong-Gil. There are thus few to no unfinished business that could be resolved in a sophomore season. The tale of the original material is equally constrained and is largely told in the first season. On the other side, if the programme is overwhelmingly well-received by viewers, a new tale might be created. As a result, a sequel might get the go-ahead in the near future. Bloodhounds season 2 might premiere in 2023’s second quarter, if filming starts in late 2023.

Woo Do-hwan (‘The King: Eternal Monarch’) and Lee Sang-yi (‘Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’) are expected to return in the second episode as Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-Jin, respectively, as members of the main cast. Hyeon-Ju’s actor Kim Sae-ron is unlikely to make a comeback, though, given her character was dropped halfway through the first season. Park Sung-woong (‘Snowdrop’) and Huh Joon-ho (‘Kingdom’), two other notable cast members, are likewise unlikely to remain for a hypothetical second season as their characters’ journeys complete with season one.

Season 2 of “Bloodhounds” will probably tell a brand-new tale with Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-Jin at the centre. After obtaining a portion of the money they recover at the end of season 1, the pair might be operating their own boxing gym. However, their compassion might push them to engage in yet another battle for justice. A more formidable foe that poses a threat to Seoul City’s lower and middle classes may come up against the boxers. Gun-woo and Woo-Jin may consequently encounter a severe obstacle that will put their moral fibre to the test.
