The 28-year-old performer Brigette Lundy-Paine, who you may recognise from the science fiction comedy Bill & Ted Face the Music and the Netflix comedy-drama series Atypical, is keen to carve their own niche in the business. Lundy-Paine, a veritable gay icon who runs a fashion publication “for weirdos” and performs with the wildly inventive pop band Subtle Pride, began their acting career in 2015 when they were given small parts in Woody Allen’s Irrational Man and the television programme One Bad Decision.
Since that time, Lundy-Paine has worked on initiatives that let them express their true selves. They proudly boasted to Interview, “I’ve yet to be asked to stand pretty while wearing a short outfit.” I really hope not.
While we wait for their upcoming thriller I Saw the TV Glow from A24, let’s look at some of Lundy-best Paine’s roles from the silver screen and the small screen.
Action Point
Action Point (2018) is a comedy about reckless freedom, starring Johnny Knoxville and a few of his Jackass pals. The movie tells the tale of a crazy amusement park owner (Knoxville) and his team, who go to considerable efforts to outdo a nearby corporate mega-park. The dramatic performance of Lundy-Paine as Four Finger Annie heightens the madness. She is all woman, but not a lady.
Atypical
The Netflix original series Atypical (2017–2021) follows the journey of Sam, an autistic 18-year-old (played by Keir Gilchrist), as he navigates the highs and lows of adolescence. Sam’s moving journey of self-discovery embarks his entire family on a path that alters their lives.
Lundy-Paine portrays Casey, Sam’s protective sister, who discovers she is bisexual at the conclusion of season three. Lundy-Paine, who was going through a similar period of growth at the time, found that the experience of playing a character who is figuring out their gender identity was transforming. Maybe this is what makes Lundy-portrayal Paine’s of Casey so intriguing.
Bill & Ted Face the Music
Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are not the carefree rock’n’rolling kids with a time machine they once were in this eagerly anticipated sequel to the sci-fi comedy classic. They are getting older, and their band and marriages are in danger of disintegrating. To top it all off, Bill and Ted had to compose the world-saving song.
Fortunately, they have each other’s daughters, Wilhelmina “Billie” Logan (Lundy-Paine) and Theadora “Thea” Preston, on hand in Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020). (Samara Weaving). The young actor Lundy-Paine portrays Keanu Reeves’ Ted’s daughter Billie in the film, and she gives a charming portrayal as a young woman who has her father’s enthusiasm in spades.
Bombshell
Lundy-Paine collaborated on the production of Bombshell (2019), a dramatic movie about sexual harassment claims at Fox News, with Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and Margot Robbie. They play Julia Clarke, Megan Kelly’s production assistant in Bombshell, opposite Theron. Despite playing a little part, Lundy-Paine made an impression on the audience, demonstrating that she is a great performer and one to watch in the business.
City of Ghosts
An entirely acoustic performance is audio drama. It relies on the abilities of excellent actors to assist the listener picture the plot since there are no visuals to aid in storytelling. Lundy-Paine showcased their acting prowess by landing the lead in the neo-noir, supernatural podcast series City of Ghosts (2021). Eleanor “El” Rivkin, a misanthropic information broker who survives in the 1990s New York City in a perilous world of corruption, murder, and her own unexplained powers, is brought to life in this radio drama by Lundy-Paine.
Margot vs. Lily
Margot vs. Lily (2016), an eight-part Nike original web series, not only inspires viewers to work out but also expertly conveys the special relationship between sisters. The show revolves around a wager between Margot (Lundy-Paine), a party girl who isn’t interested in working out, and Lily (Samantha Marie Ware), a fitness YouTube celebrity with 900,000 subscribers but no real-life friends. Lilly challenges Margot to launch her own fitness YouTube channel, and Margot challenges her sister to make three new acquaintances. They’re a lot of fun to see.
Lundy-Paine provided a new, enthralling vitality to Margot vs. Lily despite being a novice and taking the lead in such a significant project for the first time.
The Glass Castle
The Glass Castle, a 2017 movie based on Jeannette Walls’ best-selling memoir, depicts her outlandish upbringing as a member of a nonconformist nomad family. The plot centres on Walls, played by Academy Award winner Brie Larson, and her parents, a reckless painter mother named Rose and a wild and crazy father named Rex (Woody Harrelson) (Naomi Watts). Lundy-Paine plays Maureen Walls, the youngest of the Walls siblings, in The Glass Castle and co-stars on film with A-list actors.
