Where The Christmas Break Was Filmed: Cast and Shooting Locations Revealed

  • DCS

Fox’s “The Christmas Break,” a family comedy film starring Jack Bradford and his wife Caroline, is directed by Prarthana Mohan. During the holidays, the pair spends time with Caroline’s family and friends, where her relatives gather for a large family gathering. Though Jack is a little uncomfortable, he soon makes friends with Caroline’s friends, aunts, uncles, nieces, and ex-boyfriend, and starts to feel at home. The couple is still unclear about when they want to start a family.

Jack wants to be a father, but he learns how hard it will be by interacting with the children at the event. However, Caroline makes it apparent right away that she doesn’t want them, which leads to more disputes and tension on an already taxing vacation. She might reconsider, though, if she witnesses Jack embracing the family dynamic and getting along with everyone. We accompany them on their holiday in Ireland, seeing new locations and getting to know new people, and it’s easy to question where the comedy film was actually shot.

The Christmas Break Filming Sites

The majority of “The Christmas Break” was filmed in and around Dublin, Ireland’s Blessington. The main photography phase commenced in the spring of 2022 and concluded by the end of May 2022. The principal actress is among the cast members who are based in Dublin for the most part. It only seemed fitting, then, that the production team would record the comedy-drama picture on Emerald Isle. Let’s examine the locations that the film’s production selected to film its sequences in more detail.

Dublin, Republic of Ireland

In keeping with the storyline of the movie, “The Christmas Break” was primarily shot in Ireland, with a few sequences also taking place in Dublin, the nation’s capital. The charming scenery and mysterious appeal of the coastal city perfectly match the mood of the holiday movie. Since the film centres on Caroline’s family in a sleepy neighbourhood, it doesn’t include many notable sights or unusual locations from Dublin.

Dublin provides filmmakers with an authentic canvas on which to portray the romance of the holiday season because of its diverse culture, gorgeous surroundings, and kind people. Dublin is an enticing location for enchanting Christmas films with the charm of a holiday because of its unique blend of historical legacy and holiday spirit. Christmas films like “Christmas in Notting Hill,” “The Man Who Invented Christmas,” “An Old Fashioned Christmas,” and “Christmas in Ireland with Imelda May and Friends” have all been filmed in the city.

Furthermore, filmmakers have used Dublin’s diverse landscape—which ranges from lush, rolling hills to a soggy cityscape—as an exquisite setting for well-known movies including “Euphoria,” “Foundation,” “Reign,” “Cocaine Bear,” “Braveheart,” “Penny Dreadful,” and “The Count of Monte Cristo.”

Blessington, Republic of Ireland

The mediaeval village of Blessington, which is located on the River Liffey, served as the main shooting location for Fox’s Christmas feature. Together with its picturesque seafront and rich cultural legacy, the town’s wide open spaces make it a great setting for a Christmas movie. The undulating topography that stretches into the distance throughout the movie’s outdoor sequences accentuates the town’s serene natural atmosphere.

This Wicklow County town, formerly known as Ballycomeen, served as the filming location for the Gaelic football scene in which Jake meets Caroline’s former boyfriend. With its breathtaking natural splendour ranging from lakes and rivers to majestic, hazy mountains, the area offers filmmakers a surreal backdrop. As a result, it can be seen as a background in films and television shows including “Vikings,” “Neverland,” and “Dorothy Mills.”

The Christmas Break Cast

A cast that is predominantly Irish joins Justin Long in “The Christmas Break,” very fittingly. Justin got his start in theatre and is well-known for his natural comic timing. He first gained notoriety for his part in the 2001 horror movie “Jeepers Creepers.” He kept becoming more well-known in the ensuing years thanks to supporting parts in films including “Herbie Fully Loaded,” “Waiting…”, and “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.” India Mullen, the Irish actress, is starring opposite him. Her most famous role was as Peggy in the television miniseries “Normal People.” She may also be seen in the television programmes Brassic, The Peripheral, and The Vanishing Triangle.

Tom Moran as Cormac, Ruth Kearney as Maeve, Cate Russell as Pauline, Owen Roe as Calum Reilly, Bríd Ní Neachtain as Nadine Reilly, Aoife Hughes as Saoirse, Arlo Buchanan as Liam, Aaron Monaghan as Aiden, and Shane G. Casey as Mike make up the supporting cast of “The Christmas Break.” In addition, Bill Murphy plays Jerry, Robert Mitchell plays Finn, Nadia Forde plays Denise, and Oran Lynch plays the pharmacy assistant in the Fox production.
