People Are Confusing G.I. Joe 2 With G.I. Jane 2 | G.I. Joe 2 Released In 2012, 10 Years Before The Oscar Incident

G.I. Joe: 2, the action sequel  premiered  on August 10, 2012. Initially scheduled to appear in the sequel, Stephen Sommers withdrew in January. Paramount searched widely for the ideal candidate to take over the project before deciding on Jon Chu (the smashing commercial success of his most recent film for Paramount, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, probably had nothing to do with that). Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the creators of Zombieland, wrote the script that Chu is directing.

Scarlett’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra co-star Rachel Nichols stated on Twitter that just a small number of characters from the previous movie will appear in the sequel. Lee Byung-hun (Storm Shadow), Ray Park (Snake Eyes), and Channing Tatum are scheduled to return (Duke). As a result, Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Marlon Wayans won’t be appearing again. For more information, jump.

While there isn’t much known about the plot right now, the funding is more vital to know. What kind of movie we’ll see in the sequel will ultimately depend on the money. The production of the first movie reportedly cost $175 million. Will Chu, a relatively inexperienced director who hasn’t made any high-budget action movies, be given such a huge budget to work with? Most likely not. Chu should have enough money to complete the task properly, but Paramount will probably be saving a significant amount of money by not asking the main stars from the previous movie to return. I believe the sequel might end up being rather enjoyable if he receives the appropriate funding and Reese and Wernick write a lighthearted script.

Is There A G.I. Jane 2 Release Date Available ?

Technically, G.I. Jane 2 the Movie is not even up for discussion before the Oscar slap incident. Now, not only is G.I. Jane 2 still feasible, but it would also perform significantly better today than the original movie did in 1997. Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for making fun of Jada Pinkett-Smith at the Oscars, but it also unintentionally revived interest in Ridley Scott’s much-derided feminist action film. Demi Moore’s 1997 film G.I. Jane was a passion project for her, and as part of her responsibilities as producer, she requested that the cast and she go through real Navy SEAL training, which led to some male performers pulling out. Moore’s committed portrayal as Lieutenant Jordan O’Neil dispelled misconceptions that Moore was little more than a supporting former Brat Pack member, despite the fact that G.I. Jane received a lot of criticism.

In order for the feminist themes in Black Widow, Wonder Woman, Kill Bill, Mad Max: Fury Road, and many more later feminist action films to take off and soar, G.I. Jane had to wriggle through the action movie muck. Even during the disorienting camera shots of the action, G.I. Jane is far from being a flawless movie. Apart from his botched experiments with cinematography, Ridley Scott has a case to make for why he and/or Demi Moore could direct G.I. Jane 2. Moore’s transformation into a musclebound beast is essentially the only female movie training montage that can compete with the now-classic and brutal training scenes in action movies like Batman v Superman, Rocky, and Bloodsport. Moore appears to be subverting films from her own filmography like Striptease and Disclosure. Further evidence that 1997’s G.I. Jane was years ahead of its time is the fact that G.I. Jane 2 is much more plausible now than the original was. In the actual world, the Navy SEALs only admitted their first female agent in 2021.

Due in large part to the movie’s unfavorable reviews, G.I. Jane 2 was never planned. However, this is more a reflection of the misogynistic animosity directed at Demi Moore in the 1990s than anything else. For her role in Striptease in 1996, Moore received $12.5 million, making her the highest-paid female performer at the time. As a result, the media dubbed Moore “Gimme Moore” and said that the actress was materialistic. This pay, however, is incredibly low when compared to that of other male Hollywood performers, like her former husband. In actuality, Bruce Willis earned $15 million for Die Hard 3 in 1995. After all was said and done, Moore’s salary “controversy” resulted in G.I. Jane making only $48 million at a $50 million production cost, therefore ending any prospect of a sequel.
