Harry Potter Symbols : Deathly Hallows Symbol Meaning & Origin Explained

The Harry Potter franchise is uncomplicated and devoid of many symbols. The Deathly Hallows sign is one that is displayed very brightly, though. Numerous significant locations have it, including Xeno Lovegood’s necklace and Dumbledore’s signature, where it stands in for the letter “A.” If you’ve ever seen it, chances are you’ve pondered what the Deathly Hallows emblem actually means.

In The Tale of the Three Brothers, magical objects are represented by the Deathly Hallows symbol. The gifts that Death gave the brothers are symbolised in the sign by a triangle, circle, and line, respectively. They are The Elder Wand, The Resurrection Stone, and The Cloak of Invisibility.

The majority of wizards dismissed the story as a myth and never gave it much thought. The relics, however, were genuine. Make sure to read this article all the way through if you want to learn more about them and their fate.

The Meaning of the Triangle Deathly Hallows Symbol in Harry Potter

The Deathly Hallows are represented by the triangle icon that originally appeared at the conclusion of the Harry Potter film series. The three magical relics known as The Hallows were made by Death.

The three objects that make up the Deathly Hallows are each represented by one of the shapes in the symbol. The Resurrection Stone is represented by the inner circle, the outside triangle by the Cloak of Invisibility, and the middle line by the Elder Wand.

Few wizards recognised that the Hallows were actually genuine and existed in their world; the majority of magical people thought the objects were just a part of a well-known children’s story.

Whoever owned all three items would have control over death, according to tradition. The Deathly Hallows were sought after by a few strong wizards, most notably Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald.

As far as we are aware, no known witch or wizard ever held all three of them simultaneously. The person who was closest to us was Harry Potter, who had all the Hallows but never more than one at once.

Albus Dumbledore, another wizard in a similar situation, was once in possession of both the Elder Wand and the Cloak of Invisibility.

Where Did the Deathly Hallows Symbol Come From?

The Tales of Beedle the Bard’s cover is where the Deathly Hallows emblem first appeared. It is a compilation of tales for young magical people. It includes the most well-liked bedtime tales among wizards.

The Tale of the Three Brothers, which narrates the tale of the Deathly Hallows, is one of those tales. The story centres on two brothers who are attempting to cross a river where Death frequently takes its victims.

The brothers encounter a deep river on their journey that would kill anyone attempting to cross it. The brothers joined forces and built a bridge since they were outstanding wizards.

This infuriated the death, who then made the decision to deceive the brothers. Before them, Death appeared and presented everyone of them with a gift of their choosing.

The oldest brother, a duelist, requested for the wand that no one else could defeat, and his death transformed him into one of the branches of the surrounding elder tree.

The middle brother made the decision to act haughtily and pleaded with Death for a stone that would enable him to raise the dead in order to further humiliate them. Death constructed the Resurrection Stone by selecting a pebble.

However, because the youngest brother did not trust Death, he decided to make a request that would enable him to go without Death being able to follow him. The Death reluctantly gave the youngest brother a piece of his Invisibility cloak.

Each brother kept the present Death had given them as they parted ways. Death would soon exact its vengeance.

In a nearby village where he lived, the eldest brother engaged in a duel with one of his adversaries using the Elder Wand. After the duel, the eldest brother instantly murdered the wizard and then began boasting about how unbreakable his wand was and how the Death had given it to him.

When he arrived at a neighbouring inn, he made the decision to spend the night there. Unbeknownst to him, however, a vicious, inebriated wizard broke into his room while he was sleeping, cut his throat, and stole his wand. The eldest brother passed away in office while intoxicated.

The middle brother went back to his house and used the stone Death had given him to resurrect the girl he had fallen in love with before she passed away too soon.

The girl returned to the mortal world in front of his eyes, but she did not fully belong there, and as a result, she suffered. The fact that she did not return in physical form but rather just as a spirit added to the middle brother’s suffering and longing.

The middle brother was driven to insanity when he realised how miserable and frigid the girl was in the mortal realm as a result of his deeds. In order to genuinely reunite with her, he hanged himself from the balcony of his home. Middle brother gave his life out of love.

The youngest brother was unaffected by death, but the eldest and middle brothers both perished. When he had lived long enough, the youngest brother gave the cloak to his kid and greeted Death as an old friend. He had used the garment to avoid Death.

The Fate of the Deathly Hallows

Just as the story suggests, the Elder Wand is the most potent wand in the wizarding world. Even the most exceptional wizards are unable to accomplish the magic tricks that the wand’s actual master is able to.

It was handed down via battle from its first owner, Antioch Peverell. The Elder Wand can only change his master after the current master is disarmed, unlike other wands that can only do so when they are won over or passed down through inheritance.

The wand will not serve the person who stole it or acquired it in another way adequately, just as it did not serve Lord Voldemort during his final stand, despite the fact that you can take it away.

Albus Dumbledore acquired the wand after it had been used for evil by a long line of wizards, and he strove to change its reputation by utilising it for the benefit of others.

Draco Malfoy received it after he passed away, and he disarmed him before Severus Snape killed him. After Draco was disarmed during the Duel in the Malfoy Manor, the wand switched allegiance to its last known owner, Harry Potter.

After the battle, Harry repaired his original wand with the Elder Wand since he felt more at ease using it and buried it in Dumbledore’s tomb. The wand would stop working after Harry passed away naturally.

Cadmus Peverell, the Resurrection Stone’s first owner, left it in the family’s possession. When Tom Riddle seized Marvolo Gaunt’s Ring, which was concealing it at the time, he accidentally stole it, which is when it first left the family’s possession.

The stone was still in the ring when Dumbledore destroyed the Horcrux and concealed it in the snitch that Harry had captured in his first Quidditch match.

After he passed away, Harry received the Snitch, which he opened before going up against Voldemort and being slain. Harry dropped the Stone in the Forbidden Forest with the intention of losing it for good after it revealed to him his parent, Remus, and Sirius.

The first owner of the Cloak of Invisibility was Ignotus Peverell. The cloak stood out from similar goods because it offered wearers constant protection, whereas the effects of other items wore off over time.

Apart from the knowledge that it was used by James Potter before being given to Harry, its whereabouts are unknown. Albus Dumbledor gave it to him after requesting James’ permission to see it before his passing and keeping it until Harry received it.

The last time Harry used it was during the Battle of Hogwarts when he slipped away to find Voldemort unnoticed and in the aftermath when he was looking for Ron and Hermione.

Until he gave the cloak to his offspring, he kept it for himself.
