One of the film’s producers recently provided a sad update for the Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw sequel.
Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw are the main characters in the Fast & Furious spin-off, which was first released in 2019 to mixed reviews and a strong box revenue.
The franchise’s creators don’t appear to be in a rush to produce a sequel, as Kelly McCormick stated to ComicBook: “We really want to. There are no chats going on right now.”

The film undoubtedly left room for a future sequel, not least because Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart’s two new characters were introduced.
There were many seeds planted, McCormick continued, “to attempt to develop a spinoff in a way that featured a Kevin Hart and a Ryan Reynolds and sort of all that type of things.”
And that was deliberate, but not necessarily because we had plans in mind; rather, it was done because it would be entertaining for them to play with different players if anyone or we felt like going for it in a different way.
Added her: “Therefore, I’m not sure. Dwayne is a very busy man, and he would be the one to inspire all of that. So, you know, he can do it if he wants to, but in the meanwhile, he’s just dominating.”
McCormick added, when asked about the possibility of a sequel, “you’re compelled to do that in a beautiful way.”
So while I’m not ruling out the possibility of us diving into something, she added, “In my opinion, even with Deadpool and Hobbs & Shaw, we were twisting into other elements of those series anyhow.”
“That was also one of the factors that led us to choose them, if that makes sense. I believe that in order for us to feel like we can add value to something, we sometimes find it difficult to do so and find it to be uninteresting when it comes to extremely recognisable franchises.”
