Despite our love for the Fast & Furious flicks, Vin Diesel shouldn’t get all the attention. Hobbs and Shaw showed that the vehicle franchise had ample capacity for the ancillary characters to run, jump, shoot, and embark on their own adventures.
The first Fast and Furious spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw, was published four years ago. It soon went to the top of Dwayne Johnson’s list of all-time best flicks and maximised the chemistry between its antagonists. Since then, fans of the Fast and Furious series have been crossing their fingers in hope that the same cast will return for the upcoming installment.
Will Hobbs and Shaw 2 be available at that time? Can we expect a reunion between two of the best characters from Fast and Furious? If they succeed, it might rank among the best in the series.
Will there be a Hobbs and Shaw 2?
It’s unfortunate because there are currently no firm plans for Hobbs and Shaw 2, which is bad news. We continue to cross our fingers!
Hobbs and Shaw generated an amazing $760 million at the global movie office in 2019, which is a lot for a spin-off. By the end of the year, everyone involved was praising the idea of a sequel. Money does speak after all.
Then, in 2021, Johnson provided an update on what appeared to be Hobbs’ final farewell. He described it as “the antithesis of what Fast and Furious films generally are.” It’s unclear whether Johnson put that idea down on paper or merely in his head.
A Hobbs and Shaw sequel is not currently in the works, according to Hobbs and Shaw producer Kelly McCormick, who crushed our hopes in December 2022. Shaw will return for the Fast and Furious 10 premiere, but Hobbs’ participation is less definite.
