Hollywood consistently makes excellent, thought-provoking movies, and we’ve seen a lot of them over the years. The best suspense thrillers ever produced are still regarded as Inception, Sixth Sense, The Prestige, and Shutter Island. Ben Affleck is scheduled to star in a detective movie with a stunning concept that could equal these masterpieces, despite the fact that there haven’t been any movies of this kind in recent years. For lovers of the DC Universe, it could seem like a letdown because it isn’t a Batman movie, but bear with us.
The Robert Rodriguez-helmed mystery film Hypnotic will include Ben Affleck. The movie, according to reports, has been in production for 20 years, ever since Robert started scripting the story in 2002. Also, the movie made it through two Covid-19 lockdowns before going into post-production. Reputable critics like Valerie Complex of Deadline Hollywood Daily and Peter Debruge of Variety gave the movie high marks after its debut. In light of this, the movie is going to hit theatres, and here’s everything we currently know about it, including the story, cast, trailer, and release date.
Hypnotic: The Plot
The official Hypnotic trailer has been out, and this is how we see it. A righteous and obsessive investigator named Daniel Rourke (Ben Affleck) lost his daughter in a park in the blink of an eye when he forgot to pay attention. In his quest to learn more about his daughter, he discovers the fascinating world of psychics. These individuals who identify as hypnotists are capable of mind control. By odd eye contact and manipulation of the victim’s perception, they distort reality.
In order to find his beloved daughter, Rourke eventually finds a partner who is knowledgeable about these hypnotics. Despite the fact that she is a stranger, he is forced to put his trust in her. Together with her, the investigator starts to solve the mystery behind these hypnotics, but as he gets closer to the solution, his distance from his daughter grows. Detective Rourke is aware that he is up against a peculiar bunch of hypnotics, but will he be able to locate his daughter?
Here is the official Hypnotic plot summary, albeit we have expanded on it based on the trailer:
Austin police detective Danny Rourke (Ben Affleck), who is searching for his missing daughter, instead finds himself falling down a rabbit hole while looking into a string of bizarre bank robberies, which forces him to reevaluate even his most fundamental beliefs about everyone and everything in his world. Rourke follows and is chased by a dangerous spectre (William Fichtner), the one guy he feels holds the secret to finding the missing girl, with the help of Diana Cruz (Alice Braga), an unnervingly skilled psychic, only to learn more than he ever imagined.
Hypnotic: The Cast & Crew
Detective Daniel Rourke, played by Ben Affleck, embarks on a search for his missing daughter. His most well-known performances are in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, both directed by Zack Snyder. Even though he has received a lot of attention for his acting in these movies, he has been working in the business for about 40 years since making his debut in The Dark End of the Street. His other well-known works include the Oscar-winning movie Argo, Gone Girl, Good Will Hunting, The Town, and more.
Alice Braga plays Diana Cruz, Rourke’s sole chance of finding his daughter. The well-known films in which the Brazilian actress has starred are James Gunn’s Suicide Squad, I Am Legend, Predators, and Repo Men. She may, however, be more known to viewers for her portrayal of Teresa Mendoza in the television series Queen of the South.
Another intriguing addition to the main cast is William Fichtner, who plays the adversary and uses his hypnotic abilities to perpetrate murders. The Dark Knight, Entourage, The Lone Ranger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Independence Day: Resurgence are just a few of the movies and television shows in which the actor has appeared since making his television debut in 1989 with the series A Man Named Hawk. The supporting cast also includes Jeff Fahey, Kelly Frye, Hala Finley, Derek Russo, Kelly Phelan, Melanie Hawkins, Lawrence Varnado, JD Pardo, and many others. But, these primary actors will receive the majority of the attention.
As already mentioned, Max Borenstein and Robert Rodriguez both contributed to the screenplay, which was both written and directed by them. Max Borenstein is best known for writing the screenplays for Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Kong, and The Terror. Rodriguez has directed a number of well-known films and television series, including The Mandalorian, Alita: Battle Angel, the Spy Kids series, and From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series. Filmmaker Robert talked about the type of movie Hypnotic will be and how he’s been dreaming about it for 20 years in an interview with Collider. He stated it like this:
“It resembles a Hitchcock suspense novel on steroids. I can only say that. You’ll say, “I get it,” as soon as you view the first trailer. I’m present. That is the sort of movie it is. Many turns and twists. exciting in a big way. It features a fantastic cast and is of the not everything you see is true variety. It will have a lot of energy. One of my favourite stories is this one. I first began writing it in 2002. So it’s one of the things I’ve wanted to accomplish for the longest. The possibility that we may ultimately succeed excites me much.”
Hypnotic: Release Date
