A sequel to the superhero movie “Constantine” from 2005 is now in production, reuniting stars Keanu Reeves and Francis Lawrence. Based on the eponymous DC Comics character, the actor returns as the otherworldly exorcist and demonologist John Constantine. Despite having a story in mind, the writer of the horror movie, Akiva Goldsman (‘A Beautiful Mind’ and ‘The Crowded Room’), acknowledged in July 2023 that he hadn’t yet begun “typing” the script.
Additionally, in an interview with Deadline, Goldsman drew a comparison between Reeves and his character, saying, “The character is very much Keanu and the way he and Francis saw the world of good and evil, and the wonderful and authentic noir where there is a world behind the world of good and evil coexist with our world right up close. In addition to that, we are continually learning about it as I write the script. No new information has been provided on the film’s production as of yet.

John Wick: Chapter 5 (TBA)
The fifth chapter of the popular action-thriller series is titled “John Wick: Chapter 5.” In May 2023, Lionsgate Motion Picture President Joe Drake said that the neo-noir movie was in development. “As you are aware, Ballerina is the first spinoff that will be released in 2019. This is official. In addition to [‘John Wick: Chapter 5’] and the upcoming television series ‘The Continental,’ we are also working on three additional projects, the producer revealed at the time.
We’re creating the world, and when the ‘5’ movie is released, it will have naturally developed from the way we’re beginning to present those stories. But John Wick has a consistent cadence,” Drake continued. Chad Stahelski, who directed the previous four films, admitted in August 2023 that he was still working on the fifth film’s script. In a podcast, the director admitted that while he and Reeves are keen to continue the franchise, they must first develop a plot. As a result, there is no guaranteed release date for the movie, which is currently in the early stages of creation.
