Lisa Apparently Died From Cardiac Arrest…
Elvis Presley’s only child, Lisa Marie Presley, died 54 hours after being sent to the hospital for what appeared to be a heart attack. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, who also posted a moving IG post for her daughter when she was in the hospital, confirmed the news of her passing.
“Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are stunned and grieved by the untimely passing of their beloved Lisa Marie,” a spokesperson for the Presley family said in a statement. They humbly appreciate everyone’s love, support, and prayers and ask for privacy during this extremely trying time.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must convey the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” said Lisa Marie Presley’s mother, Priscilla, on Thursday evening, January 12. I have never met a lady who was as passionate, strong, and loving as she was. We request discretion as we work to process this tragic loss. I’m grateful.
If you didn’t know, Lisa Marie Presley was taken to the hospital yesterday morning following what appeared to be a heart attack. According to a statement from a representative of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, paramedics were sent to the 5900 block of Normandy Drive in Calabasas to assist a woman in her 50s who was not breathing.
They started CPR as soon as they got there, noting that the patient had “signs of life,” and sent her to a nearby hospital for “urgent medical care.” Due to privacy restrictions, the spokesperson did not identify Lisa while she was in the hospital.
Lisa: A Strong and Loving Woman
Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley’s only child, was born nine months after Elvis and Priscilla tied the knot. After their parents’ separated in 1973, she and her mother moved to Los Angeles when she was 4 years old. When Lisa was only 9 years old, Elvis passed away. He would often wake me up to sing in the middle of the night, get on the table, and sing, Lisa revealed about her father in an interview in 2009. He was a really interesting father, but I just remember him as my father.
Three albums by Lisa were released throughout her professional career: Storm & Grace (2005), Now What (2005), and To Whom It May Concern (2003). She applied for a Gold certification for her debut album from the Recording Industry Association of America. She also released a few non-album singles, some of which were duets with her father performed to songs that he had already recorded before his terrible passing.
Lisa experienced a number of unhappy marriages in her personal life. Riley and Benjamin were born to Lisa and Chicago-based musician Danny Keough after their 1988 marriage. But the pair had a divorce in 1994. Sadly, Benjamin killed himself in 2020, a year before he would have turned 28.
After her divorce, Lisa quickly wed Michael Jackson, whom her father had first introduced to her when she was just seven years old. “I dedicate my life to being Michael’s wife because I love him so much. We both look forward to starting a family, and I understand and support him,” she said of Michael at the time. But after two years, the two decided to call it quits.
She later became engaged to musician John Oszajca, who was born in Hawaii, but broke off the engagement after meeting Nicholas Cage. The two exchanged vows in a private ceremony, although they were only wed for around four months.
In 2006, she wed Michael Lockwood, with whom she has two children. However, their divorce was finally finalized in 2021, which led to a contentious custody dispute. Lisa was last saw with her mother at the Golden Globe Awards, where they were there to support the Baz Luhrmann film “Elvis,” which is based on her late father.
