Lucifer Season 7 : Is The Show Cancelled? Is There A Spin-off In The Pipeline?

Over the course of its six seasons, Lucifer gained a cult following despite a poor beginning in terms of cancellation and popularity. Many people enjoyed and adored the show. But will the show keep airing or will viewers have to say goodbye to their beloved series?

Will there be Lucifer Season 7?

The programme was so popular that Netflix picked it up for a fourth season after Fox dropped it after three seasons. Sadly, Lucifer’s lifespan was constrained despite its new environment. The sixth season of the Tom Ellis-directed show just ended, bringing the story of the titular demon to an end. But why doesn’t Lucifer have a Season 7?

The solution is really quite easy. The sixth season of the programme will be its final one since it was not renewed for a seventh.

Lucifer Season 7 has so been scrapped.

Why is Lucifer Season 6 the ultimate ending?

The Netflix original script called for Lucifer to end after five seasons with a momentous revelation regarding God. The streamer later altered its mind and declared that the show would be renewed for a sixth season. In June 2020, Lucifer received a ten-episode renewal, allowing the show to give its characters a respectful farewell.

Hold your breath if you were thinking Netflix might shock fans with a Lucifer Season 7 announcement. The final episode will be the “FINAL final,” according to Lucifer’s official Twitter account, which stated this when Season 6 was announced. Since then, the authors and streamers have supported that hypothesis, indicating that Lucifer Season 6 is truly the character’s final season.

Why isn’t Lucifer getting a seventh season?

Everything comes down to the goals of the creators. The showrunners, Joe Henderson and Ildy Modrovich, have a plan for when and how they wanted to end the series, and they are sticking to it.

In fact, when Netflix invited them to return for 10 more episodes, the couple acknowledged to Entertainment Weekly that they almost didn’t do it. They were pleased with how Season 5 concluded, and it took much contemplation before they came up with a plan for Season 6.

The overall backdrop

The tale centres on Lucifer Morningstar, a lovely and strong angel who was expelled from Heaven due to his disobedience. The Devil, Lucifer, is sick of torturing people for millennia as the Lord of Hell. In disobedience to his father (God), he abdicates his throne and flees his homeland for Los Angeles, where he owns and runs the Lux nightclub. He runs upon the gorgeous Detective Chloe Decker while working on a murder case. After assisting the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in uncovering the crime by utilising his capacity to seduce people into divulging their most secret desires, Lucifer accepts a second offer to work with Chloe as a consultant. Additionally, as they work to solve murders and become closer throughout the series, they run across a variety of strange creatures.

Lucifer Season 6 ending explained

The series’ passionate and tragic finale from Season 6 of Lucifer wrapped up the stories of all the major characters while also giving the Devil his due. Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), who overcame his evil twin brother Michael, begins Season 6 with the goal of becoming God. The Devil was prevented from ascending to Heaven and becoming the All-Powerful, however, by the appearance of Rory Morningstar (Brianna Hildebrand), Lucifer’s future daughter. Instead, Lucifer decided to get close to Rory, the child he has with Chloe Decker (Lauren German), and try to understand why he left her.

In the “Partners ‘Til The End” episode of Lucifer season 5, in which Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) was killed by hitman Vincent Le Mec (Rob Benedict), Rory was saved by the Devil. Rory had intended to slay the Devil, but Lucifer intervened to prevent her from doing so and preventing her from turning into the Devil herself (complete with Lucifer’s face). The Devil had been unknowingly saving certain Hell inmates throughout Lucifer season 6 as well as helping Dan’s soul to reach Heaven; nevertheless, Lucifer’s kidnapping and rescue of Rory was the key to why he vanishes in Rory’s future. Lucifer realised that his ultimate goal was to go back to Hell and help every cursed soul escape its cycles and find salvation in Heaven. However, this mission requires leaving before Rory is born, which is the reason Lucifer abruptly disappears from her life.

Is it possible that Netflix will return to this planet with a spinoff rather than a season 7?

Of course, Lucifer doesn’t need a seventh season to reacquaint its audience with the world it created. Even though the stories of Chloe and Lucifer have concluded, Rory’s (Brianna Hildebrand) presence permits a spin-off. Her fate isn’t described in great length in the final chapter, but there isn’t much left for her to do either.

Henderson and Modrovich don’t appear to have any plans to visit our planet in the near future, if at all. Reboots and reunions, though, are now frequent because of how times have changed. Fans might see some kind of return to this reality, even though a Lucifer Season 7 seems doubtful. Anything is possible when it comes to topics of Heaven and Hell.

Netflix now offers streaming access to all six seasons of Lucifer.
