Rhonda Banchero and Mario Banchero met when enrolled as University of Washington students. Although they went to the same high school and were neighbors growing up, they didn’t actually meet until they were in college. Mario and Rhonda met because they had a passion for sports and were both athletes on the university’s team.

In July 1999, Mario and Rhonda exchanged vows. Late in the 1990s, they began dating, and in February 1999, he proposed to her in Green Lake. They were both supposed to meet with each other’s parents on the day of the proposal, but Mario lied about his car not starting and asked Rhonda to pick him up at the Lake instead.

When she came, they spent some time walking around the lake before Mario got down on one knee and proposed while a guitarist played in the background. Mario admitted that he had carefully thought out the proposal and that one of Fox’s comedy TV episodes, in which a character made a similar proposal to his fiancée at Green Lake, had served as inspiration.

Paolo Ranchero, Mia Ranchero, and Lio Ranchero are the names of Mario Banchero and Rhonda’s three children. Like their parents, all three of the children are well-known in their respective sports and are all athletes. Here, meet the Banchero children.

Paolo Banchero is Mario and Rhonda’s First Child

Mario and his wife gave birth to Paolo Banchero as their first kid. On November 12, 2002, three years after his parents’ nuptials, he was born. Paolo is a professional basketball player for the Orlando Magic of the NBA.

Paolo is already developing a strong basketball playing career at such a young age, and much of this success can be attributed to the influence of his parents, who were both athletes when they were younger. Together with his wife, Mario instilled in their son the virtues of discipline, which allowed him to focus his passion for basketball.

Paolo admitted that despite playing well, his mother pushed him to practice harder. Later, he would participate in collegiate basketball with the Duke Blue Devils, where he would garner numerous honors such as the McDonald’s All-American (2021) and the Jordan Brand Classic.
