The comedy-thriller movie “Cocaine Bear” is set in the Appalachian mountains, where a curious bear finds a bag of cocaine and gets hooked on it. When the Bear learns to snort it, he becomes a fierce warrior who is good with swords and rules with fear. When some hunters try to stop it, they are surprised by the new things it can do. Even though the hunters hurt the Bear, it dies of a cocaine overdose in the end.
The movie is based on a true story and was directed by Elizabeth Banks. It definitely keeps the movie’s lighthearted spirit while also having some really scary parts. If you want to see more scary or funny movies about animals getting into trouble, we’ve put together a list just for you. Most of these movies, including “Cocaine Bear,” are available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu.
Backcountry (2014)
Alex, an experienced outdoorsman, takes Jenn, a lawyer who works for a big company, deep into the isolated Blackfoot Trail in the Canadian wilderness, against her better judgement. On the first night, they meet Brad, a strange alpha male who might be following them or might not be. Alex’s drive to get to their destination only gets stronger, so they keep going deeper into the woods. But when their path disappears, they are hopelessly lost and must fight to stay alive without food or water.
As they try to find their way back, their relationship, which was already weak, is put to the limit. When they go into a bear’s territory, they have to fight to stay alive as fear and horror take over. “Backcountry,” which was directed by Adam MacDonald, is an adventure drama like “Cocaine Bear.” Like “Cocaine Bear,” it is based on a true story, and the Bear is at the centre of the conflict.
Black Sheep (2006)
Even though his brother Angus is a pain, Harry Oldfield has a happy and fun childhood on the sheep farm his family owns. Because their father died too soon, Harry had to leave the farm, go to therapy for his fear of sheep, and finish his ICT education. When Harry comes back after 15 years, Angus has bought him out and plans to show off genetically modified Oldfield sheep made by his cutthroat team.
When Grant, an environmentalist, takes an abandoned embryo with sharp teeth, he gets bit and turns into a creature like a werewolf that eats a lot. Harry must survive the dangerous sheep and their creators, who have the only cure, with the help of Tucker, a kind farmhand, and Grant’s partner, Experience. “Black Sheep” is a horror comedy directed by Jonathan King. It has a dark sense of humour that is a bit strange. In the same way as in “Cocaine Bear,” the sheep in this movie are dangerous and ready to eat people.
Critters (1986)
The Brown family lives in a rural area and works on a farm. Their life is perfect until a group of mysterious fuzzy creatures from outer space show up out of the blue. With bad intentions, these extraterrestrial beings cause trouble and leave destruction in their wake. As their fighting gets worse, the arrival of two very skilled bounty hunters doesn’t calm things down.
So, it’s up to the Brown family to fight back against the invaders and get their daughter April back from them. People couldn’t get enough of Stephen Herek’s horror comedy “Critters,” so he made several more of them. Like the people in “Cocaine Bear,” the family in “Critters” is stuck in a situation they can’t figure out, which keeps putting their strength to the test.
Eight Legged Freaks (2002)
Because of a chemical spill, small spiders that were once harmless have grown into huge, bloodthirsty monsters that threaten the safety of a rural mining town. Chris McCormack, a mining engineer, and Sam Parker, the town’s sheriff, work together to get the people of the town to fight the mutant spiders. The group fights to save their town from the SUV-sized monsters with the help of Sam’s kids, Mike and Ashley, and the conspiracy theorist Harlan. Ellory Elkayem directed the adventure comedy “Eight-Legged Freaks.” Like the Bear, the spiders in this movie are changed by people’s carelessness and start attacking everything they see.
Into The Grizzly Maze (2015)
The Alaskan wilderness can be both beautiful and dangerous, and for Beckett and Rowan, it is both a place where they can be together and a place where they are in danger. After being apart for years, the two get back together to face a famous grizzly bear they met at the Grizzly Maze years ago. As they try to find their missing loved ones and figure out what the Bear has been doing lately, they have to face their own mistakes and demons.
With danger around every corner, they fight to stay alive and get back together as brothers in the face of a lot of trouble. “Into The Grizzly Maze” is an action-adventure film directed by David Hackl. Like “Cocaine Bear,” it is about people trying to stay alive when a bear attacks them.
Lake Placid (1999)
Deep in the calm waters of a Maine lake lives a mysterious and deadly creature that killed a man who didn’t know it was there. In order to find out what happened, game warden Jack Wells joins forces with the tough-as-nails Sheriff Hank Keough and the smart palaeontologist Kelly Scott to look into the brutal attack. With only a single tooth as proof, the three brave people set out on a dangerous mission to find out who the monster hunter is.
But what they find is worse than anything they could have imagined: a huge, cruel reptile with a ravenous hunger for destruction. At its scariest points, Steve Miner’s action comedy Lake Placid is very scary. In this movie, people are being chased by a very large crocodile, which is a lot like the strange bear.
Snakes on a Plane (2006)
Sean Jones is on a bike trip in Hawaii when he sees the notorious gangster Eddie Kim kill the prosecutor Daniel Hayes. After running away, Sean goes back to his room and finds that everyone is talking about the murder. Eddie Kim and his men try to kill Sean, but FBI agent Flynn gets there just in time to save him. Sean didn’t want to testify against Eddie at first, but Flynn persuaded him, and the two of them got on a plane to LA.
Pop star Three G’s, a grumpy businessman, a woman named Mercedes with her dog Mary Kate, and other people are on board. Unluckily, the flight turns into a nightmare when a bunch of snakes take over the plane and make a mess of things. “Snakes on a Plane” is an adventure movie directed by David R. Ellis. Unlike “Cocaine Bear,” which was about a bear that caused trouble for people, “Snakes on a Plane” is about snakes.
Sharknado (2013)
A freak hurricane hits Los Angeles and turns sharks that eat people into tornadoes. The storm also floods the city with shark-infested seawater. Fin, a surfer and bar owner, goes with his friends Baz and Nova to save his wife April and daughter Claudia, who he hasn’t seen in a while. Even though the hurricane is raging and there are sharks in the water, they fight to save their loved ones. “Sharknado” is a movie that can’t be taken seriously, and it’s a perfect example of “so bad it’s good.” The comedy movie by director Anthony C. Ferrante is a great choice for anyone who liked the jokes in “Cocaine Bear” and wants to see something weirdly funny.
The Edge (1997)
A billionaire and his supermodel wife go to Alaska for a photography job. While looking for the perfect spot, the billionaire’s plane crashes into the forest, killing everyone on board. Their once-exciting trip turns into a hard fight for survival when a dangerous bear follows them everywhere they go. During the dangerous trip, an already tense situation gets worse when Charles Morse starts to think that Robert Green is having a romantic relationship with his wife.
Charles must fight his inner demons and face his doubts head-on if he wants to keep them alive. The Edge is an action-drama movie directed by Lee Tamahori that looks at how to survive in a smart way. If you thought “Cocaine Bear” didn’t have enough about survival, you should add this movie to your list.
Tremors (1990)
Valentine “Val” McKee and Earl Bassett wanted to get away from the monotony of their lives in Perfection, Nevada, a desert town with no future. Unfortunately, their plans are ruined by a series of strange deaths, and they find some creepy creatures with tentacles that are eating people who don’t know what’s going on. Even though the beasts aren’t Einsteins, it was impressive how well they could find and follow people.
Val and Earl soon found out that the creatures, which they called “graboids,” could not be stopped. Even hiding on top of buildings wasn’t enough to keep them from killing them. The people had to stay on their toes if they wanted to beat these cruel hunters. Ron Underwood is in charge of the horror comedy “Tremors.” Like “Cocaine Bear,” it has a surprise threat and a little bit of humour.
