The upcoming Ocean’s Eleven, supposedly a prequel starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has a start date set by Warner Bros. Discovery. The prequel is actually a remake of the 1960 film Ocean’s 11, the first in the series, according to a statement posted on the official website of the Film & Television Industry Alliance.
We originally learned about the prequel to Ocean’s Eleven, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, from Warner Bros. in May of last year. According to reports, the film’s director, Bombshell’s Jay Roach, had been chosen to head it. Carrie Solomon wrote the screenplay, which is set in Europe in the 1960s. Later, in August 2022, we discovered that Gosling had joined the cast. The names of all previously rumoured cast and staff members have been confirmed in the latest project announcement. In addition, the project profile states: “Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie appear in a remake of the original Ocean’s Eleven, which is set in Europe in the 1960s.”
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr. played World War II veterans who banded together to loot five Las Vegas casinos in a single night in the 1960 picture that launched the series. It appears like Warner Bros. Discovery is aiming to revive the movie series in addition to creating a prequel, as it did with the 2001 blockbuster starring Clooney and Pitt. Of course, there’s still a potential that the impending Ocean’s Eleven fills both roles simultaneously; it may duplicate the original 1960s movie and act as a prequel to more current ones.
A successful trilogy featuring Clooney, Pitt, and an all-star cast was created by the 2001 film Ocean’s Eleven. Sandra Bullock played Debbie Ocean, the sister of George Clooney’s original burglar Danny Ocean, and the team were commanded by Sandra Bullock in Ocean’s Eight, which was released by Warner Bros. more than ten years after the release of 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen. Warner Bros. Discovery is taking the brand in a completely different route because the resurrection was a financial flop. Although there is still little information available regarding the prequel/remake of Ocean’s Eleven, it shouldn’t be long as production gets underway on March 6.
When Is Ocean’s Eleven Remake Coming to Theaters?
The new Ocean’s Eleven is being kept under wraps, and Warner Bros. Discovery has not yet disclosed a potential release date. Nevertheless, given the film begins production this March, we shouldn’t anticipate seeing it before the summer of 2024. Depending on the project’s post-production requirements, even later.
The Warner Bros. Discovery Barbie movie, starring Robbie and Gosling, will be released in theatres on July 21, 2023. See the trailer for Barbie below.
