Shawna Williams and her ex-husband moved to Goldsboro in Wayne County, North Carolina, in the late 1990s after getting pregnant at 20 and getting married. She remembered how they had been together since they were very young and had remained so for eight years before deciding to separate in 2004. She relocated to Richmond, Virginia, with her daughter Lauren Williams in order to care for a sick relative. Shawna started working as a medical assistant full-time and went back to school in an effort to start over.
She would, nevertheless, make weekend and holiday trips back to North Carolina since she missed her family and friends there. Even after she went back to Richmond, they continued to stay in touch, but Shawna was not immediately attracted to him. They started talking on the phone for hours, and she learned they had similar aspirations for their lives. Shawn visited Richmond frequently to see her. They began making wedding plans seven months into their relationship. Shawna stated they agreed not to have an intimate relationship before marriage because she was unwilling to take any more chances following her early pregnancy.
She allegedly underwent an STD test prior to the wedding, and Shawn reportedly told her that the military routinely tests its members for STDs. After getting married on September 3, 2009, Shawna made the decision to finish her degree before moving in with Shawn in Georgia. Unfortunately, their marriage quickly began to suffer as a result of the extended romance. After taking on a second job as a bouncer at a nearby karaoke bar to help support his family, Shawn realised he had little time for her.
Where Are Shawn and Shawna Williams Today?
When Shawn was sent to Fort Bliss, Texas, and they moved in together in an off-post housing complex, their marital problems started to improve. For a while, everything appeared to be going well, but in the spring of 2012, Shawna discovered an open packet of condoms in her husband’s car. She made the decision to put up with Shawn’s ridiculous justification that they might be the former owner of the car. She nevertheless monitored her husband’s activities.
When Shawn left his cell phone at a house party and went to pick up one of his pals, she had reason to be concerned. She discovered numerous amorous texts, pictures of different ladies only partially clad, and other evidence of his adultery. When challenged, Shawn admitted to sending these texts while his wife was in Georgia and expressed regret for doing so. Shawna, on the other hand, wouldn’t let it go this time and dug through his belongings covertly until she found a report stashed somewhere.
Her three-year-old spouse had an HIV positive test, but she had never known. Shawna had her tested and notified the military authorities because she was concerned that she had the sickness. After learning that Shawn had relationships with seven additional women without telling them about his HIV infection, military officials detained him. Alicia Clark, who claimed to have had a regular physical contact with him from January 2010 until December 2012, was one of the victims.
Shawn allegedly deceived Alicia using the same excuse—regular military testing. None of his female victims, according to the programme, tested HIV positive. On September 9, 2014, Shawn entered a plea of guilty to six counts of adultery, one count of defying a court order, and eight counts of aggravated violence. He received a dishonourable discharge, an eight-year prison term, and a grade drop to E-1. He did, however, succeed in having the sentence reduced to three years in prison after filing an appeal.
The show claims that despite numerous tests over the past few years, Shawna has not tested positive for HIV. Despite still being affected by the trauma of her experiences, she now lives with her family and has taken action to ensure her wellbeing. She revealed on the programme how she had grown suspicious of people.
