According to reports, Netflix will renew “Skull Island,” the animated series created by Brian Duffield, for a second season. The story depicts a group of explorers who travel to the ocean to save Annie. It is based on “Skull Island,” the fictitious island made up by Edgar Wallace and Merian C. Cooper for the latter’s 1933 movie “King Kong.” After a shipwreck, they find themselves on the titular island, where they are met by “large creatures and terrifying monsters,” including Kong, the island’s self-declared guardian, who completely changes their life.
On June 22, 2023, Netflix released the complete first season of the show. The same film earned positive reviews from both reviewers and viewers, earning Rotten Tomatoes’ “Fresh” certification. With a 69% audience score, it is evident that the first season did well on the streaming service, which supports the possibility of renewing the programme for a second season. The first season of the show also leaves a number of loose ends, which ensures that there will be plenty of room for an engaging second season.
For the second season, it is anticipated that the major voice cast members would still provide their vocal talents. Charlie is voiced by Nicolas Cantu, who is also known for playing Dak in “Dragons Rescue Riders: Heroes of the Sky,” Hark in “The Fabelmans,” and Elton Ortiz in “The Walking Dead: World Beyond.” Annie is voiced by Mae Whitman, who is most known for her roles in “The Duff,” “One Fine Day,” “Hope Floats,” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower.” Mike is voiced by Darren Barnet, who also provides the voices of Paxton Hall-Yoshida in “Never Have I Ever,” Wilfred “Freddy” Malick in “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” and other characters.
